Interstate truckies here in Oz were asked what colour temp they preferred best. Most truckies said that 4000 to 4500k was the best colour to spot the common western grey kangaroo.

The clip showing the difference in colour was amazing, real eye opener to why some led light “look” bright.
@TheWhyteChoice Жыл бұрын
Very informative video, clearly showing the real reason and difference in the reason for the 5k. made my mind up on my UK based 120 land cruiser, fitting to 7' sentinel elite's to the nudge bar.

Color does much more than light up dust when it’s too white. The most thorough research I have seen was on led color and police identification of weapons in peoples hands and such. The eye has evolved to see in sunlight. The best combination is amber and white. I am not a lighting engineer but I have been an off roader for years. Look at a Baja trophy truck. They drive at super high speed and use a combination. Ps I am in no way trying to argue or take away from your experience and the throw of those lights looks awesome. I can only speak for myself but it’s overkill for most. I you are driving fast enough to need that off road with a “tourer” or “overland” then your a danger to yourself and others. You can’t turn them on in a convoy. This is all just my experience through using and modifying 9 4x4 trucks/suvs (all 4 runners) but this is only my opinion and I am expert at nothing. But I am experienced in the off road craft

I used to own a lighting business importing specialised lighting and all of my standard (non medical) lamps were 5,000K It is equivalent to midday sunlight

Very interesting to hear you echo my own thoughts, especially about 5000 vs higher LED colour temps, which I believe not only fatigue older eyes, but also seem to wash out the colour and texture of oncoming objects. As much as I’ve always detested LED’s, especially when being blinded by badly focussed oncoming LED lights, I’m looking very closely at Lazerlamp’s Linear 18 Elite light bar for the front grille of my Discovery 4. The xenon headlights are pretty good on the car, but driving at night on the winding roads around my area in the Blue Mtns, I’d like a bit more spread and distance, and the linear 18 looks perfect. Have you gotten around too checking out their light bar range yet, as you suggested you’d like to?
@DASHOffRoad Жыл бұрын
Yes, I’m running a lines 36 on my roof currently. I generally use this for around town as it gives great spread, but it doesn’t have the distance of the 9” round elites.

Something that's always peed me off about lightbars is the excessively white light they produce, it causes eye strain and makes you tired, the old school halogen were so much nicer to drive behind with their warmer colour of light compared to most LED lights which are excessively white.,
@DonegalOverlanding2 жыл бұрын
We have Lazer Lamps all round exceptional things. We have 3 Utility 45s which cover left and right sides, and one for rear. We have RS4s with built in DRLs on the front, and the monster Elite 28 51" lightbar which is just frightening!

It would be nice to know what LED a lot of these brands are using most of them say “CREE” but that’s just a brand name…. They have lots and lots of different models. And also I’d rather a higher CRI over lumens any day. I’m a bit of a flashlight nerd 😂

Serious question. While there certainly appears to be a difference; is that not in part due to the location of the light? Would the Lasers perform similarly if they were shooting down to the ground in front of the Patrol like the bar? I’m no expert and genuinely curious.

Have been eyeing these off ever since I watched Stefan Fischer's review. Just can't justify the cost at the moment.
@FJaypewpew Жыл бұрын
Yeah cost is prohibitive, I notice they have a 7 inch sentinel now and while still being pricey it’s slightly more bare able Truth being you don’t drive at night super often let’s be real and it’s just a bit of wankfactor for a lot of people, but if you buy good things you have good things. I need to get the spaghetti wiring from the bloke who owned my car before dealt with first before I get new spotties anyway lol

Well said about the quality of the led chips. People love cheap rubbish like kings lights and think they are the same as they come from the same factory as brands like narva.
@robertwilson1827Ай бұрын
Same factory, different ingredients?? As he said, the top quality products, go into the better brands, same products, lesser quality, goes into the lower brands??

Hey bud, they are as good as they are said to be, I have a set of Sentinel Elites, plus 3x Triple R1000's on my ute. My ute is used in the heavy Haulage transport industry, and it gets used and abused on all sorts of mine access tracks, and some really C grade bitumen roads, and they've held up exceptionally well.
@jc76542 жыл бұрын
@@lyntonwaun3527 they look really good and i like the colour output being more like a halogen colour but at 750$ a per light then they should be really good. i don't do enough night driving to justify 1500$ probably need some security nuts so that they don't get pinched. if i was driving nights every day, yes I'd probably get a set because of the way they provide light across the whole road from gutter to gutter as well as a good distance down the road.
