Thanks man I can’t tell you how much I needed a framework like this. I’ve really been struggling trying to formulate a training program cause I don’t know jack shit about anything. As a poor mf with nothing much to his name, aspiring to get into Special Operations is going to be the most ambitious thing I’ve ever done for sure. The goal is to be a Ranger but there’s been a lot of GBs that have inspired me to get to work prepping myself for RASP. Thank you for this, really. You’re pulling my ass out of the fire with this you have no idea 🤙

I've desired to be a part of my country's special forces for a better part of the past 13 years. And while my goals shifted during a few past years during college, the military and the life it inspires is such an essential part of me now, that I'll probably never get rid of it. I've decided to undergo our military's month long basic training for volunteers (to uphold combat readinnes among citizens) that's gonna take place in August, and since I've always believed in the mantra of preparing for worse than what awaits you, it landed me here. :) Thank you for creating this program, for free. As a still ongoing student I appreciate very much people eager to just pass on their knowledge. I will use your program to prepare for the basics. Much love

man, this is perfect. I've been looking for a program. Do you have any advice for preventing shin splints? also, i get a pain under my right rib whenever I run for over a couple miles, how can i prevent that?
@InfiniteGrit9 ай бұрын
Let me know how it goes! The biggest thing is to slowly increase your mileage. Start with what you’re currently able to do and aim for a 10% weekly mileage increase. Banded toe lifts, heel walks, walking up a hill backwards, etc. these are all good pre-hab for shin splints. A good resource for this is @squatuniversity I’m a trainer but by no meals am I a medical professional so if issues arise I absolutely recommend seeing a physical therapist or the proper profession. However, it could be simple side stitches or ETAP. Exercises like planks are often good for that, proper nutrition/hydration and conditioning

Man I appreciate you, I'm an active duty staff sergeant and I've been in the fitness realm for over a decade so I'm not new to the military or any of this. However, with a selection date next month I had a lot of doubts on how productive my training has been or if I have been going about this the correct way and all of this either gave me some tips on what I can be doing better or confirmed what I've been doing has me on track. Appreciate you putting out the info without trying to milk hopefuls for what little money they have.

Awesome guide, man. I really needed a running split to pair up with my current strength days. Referring to the sprint days, what does a sprint actually mean? I know a lot of people have a different opinion on the intensity. Thanks.
@InfiniteGrit9 ай бұрын
Right on man! I appreciate the feedback. Keep me posted on how it’s going. They should be above 90% output so you’re pushing pretty hard. I always aim for a sub 6:00 pace so for the 1/4, 1:30 and the 1/2, 3:00. Obviously work to it but those are solid numbers to hit
@gunnerrl80735 ай бұрын
Do you think doing full body compound lifts 2-3 days a week and running the other days would be beneficial in comparison to splits? Or do you think each muscle group once a week is enough volume?
@InfiniteGrit5 ай бұрын
Both work, but I prefer splits only for the reason that you can space out leg days to allow for more recovery and hit the speed sessions with fresh legs instead of being sore from hitting legs the day prior

@InfiniteGrit9 ай бұрын
I haven’t personally used FNG academy’s trainer but it looks great and I’ve heard really good things! I always used the issued ruck until I got to group and didn’t have any issues with it. If you do decide to use it, just ensure you’re packing it correctly and getting the heaviest weight up near your shoulder blades and close to your body

What would you recommend for someone who’s 30 running sub 8 min pace right now. Would you recommend them to send it through the 18x contract now and still train up until ship date, or be able to run sub 6:00 min/mile pace and then send it. Just your opinion, and also opinions on a 30 year old in general going 18x
@InfiniteGrit8 ай бұрын
As long as you’re putting in mileage and developing the durability in that regard you’d likely be good. I was running in like the 15’s when I left for basic and ended with a 12:40 2 mile so you can absolutely make great progress in a short time but I would still train up for the conditioning aspect. You’re totally fine with the age man. If anything the additional life experience and maturity will be a huge benefit through the pipeline. I had guys from all ages, some even late 30s in my class and the older guys performed pretty damn well

Do you think this plan would be applicable for the Royal Marine Commandos ?
@InfiniteGrit9 ай бұрын
I’m honestly not sure. I’m not familiar with their requirements. This will help improve your run/ruck times and overall strength but there isn’t any swim progressions in here so if that’s a requirement I would definitely add that in
@urmum59228 ай бұрын
Oh ok thanks - the basic swim requirements aren’t crazy so 45mins - 1hr of swimming a week should be enough. Though I will probably adapt the plan a bit to suit the Royal Marines. Could you substitute some of the rucks for runs in the 90 days as they work on building up your rucking ability in training. And you’re not tested on your rucking ability initially.
