IMO, if you can't figure out how to adapt this swing approach to your driver swing, use a different swing that works for driver only. That's what I've ended up doing. It's fine if someone has a different swings for driver and irons. We have different swings for chipping don't we?

This also helps me keep shoulder tilt as an extra bonus. I fire too aggressively early, R arm get straight and I have to stand up to not bury the club in the ground. Somehow found this video searching to maintain should tilt. Was on the Sim warming up and hit a few 7 irons 174 carry which is crazy for me. Then got tense and quick during our round and couldn't get past 155.....

This is great advice and you don't see much of it anywhere of all the golf YT videos out there. I think back to my best balls striking rounds and my thought was to let my arms fall and swing fast once I get to hip high on the downswing. Somehow I forget this and go back to trying to kill it from the top. I'll check out your free lesson. Thanks!

thank you for the quick lesson! unfortunately, some of my best shots come from a feeling of half swing punch shots-- but in reality I'm basically doing a full swing. But my hands and club head are all in a scooped position. Unless I truly start in a 1st arm parallel position and make a full downswing to finish from there-- I can see my hands and club shaft in a perfect position. how do I blend these two moves together? when I tried this before it felt like 2 separate moves. So not exactly effortless, but a little choppy and panicky feeling because 'when do I start adding power' before it's too late lol
@MrTanorton879 ай бұрын
makes so much sense from a physics perspective. Instead of exerting lots of energy at the top of the backswing to overcome the initial inertia, you let the effect of gravity on your arms give you free energy, so that when you do start to add your own energy, it's on top of existing momentum - exactly like roll-starting a car down a hill

This 7 iron is a club at my studio and its loft is 34 degrees but it has a graphite shaft so compared to my project 6.5 shaft it’s much lighter. So with my actual 7 iron my clubhead speed will be high 80s to low 90s but with this graphite club my clubhead speed is anywhere around 100 mph, carry distance will be around 200 yards with this club

Being relaxed also makes the swing so much more consistent cause you let your physiology dictate a lot of the angles and overall dimensions of the swing! Crazy that almost no one mentions this, it just came to me one day on the range. The level of how much you flex a muscle can vary a lot and so THE ONLY way to circumvent this is by being completely relaxed. Like not a single neuron should be firing to your shoulders on the down swing. Doing that you can let your tendons, ligaments, muscle fibers and skeleton do the measuring for you. I betcha they're a lot less prone to variance.

Another experienced Trackman user not entirely convinced the numbers are accurate. The 3D Gears technology clearly shows that top Pros accelerate their hands from the top and actually slow down to put the brakes on the hand speed to allow the club to release at the bottom of the swing thereby giving max head speed. There is so much confusion around golf tuition right now and sadly the data screen do not make it less confusing. Your channel has significant feedback to show your screen numbers are unlikely to be real… if you want to progress… do a for real test… or keep continuing to hit the ball “ far aways” backed up by suspect data. This is advice, not criticism .

I am a serious student of the golf swing and 100% agree with what he is saying. I respect it. However, there is something totally off here. There is no way (impossible) that his 1/2 swing-punch shot with a 7 iron is going 170yards in the beginning of the video. I know that the big golf retailers have their monitors "juiced" to show extra yardage to sell clubs. I think that same thing is happening here. Again, he's dead on with his analysis but I don't see the yardage at all. At the end of the video he takes an even less energetic swing that would maybe go 10 yards and his monitor shows 150 yards. No way.
