@krestonosets68 Жыл бұрын
@The Hard Stuff This is only your personal interpretation of certain actions. What does it mean zero positive benefits? What are the criteria of it? Personal judgement based on your mood? Waste of time can be applied to smth you have done and then regret about it but even in that way your actions changed the reality bringing you somewhere else. Life is about getting full range of sensations and in order to get it we have act by changing the current reality. Whatever you do in life you change it and that change contribute to the global change of what humanity is doing each second.

What is bringing us joy and happiness? is it what you're doing now? how do you consider your present? if you feel empty and if you think you're wasting time you're actually wasting it,"Your actions in this timeframe are limited, time is not, but your time in YOUR life is. What are you going to do about it?

In our society we are unfortunately not tought about the preciousness of every moment in life and how to become a master in living a good life. We definitely waste the most of our time and also the time of the people we have often contact with. We are too much focused on the material aspects in our live, like money, aquiring things, career and our egotistical needs, because we are told that these are intentions that matter. I was suspicious of that since my childhood, but it took me a long way to learn what really matters in life and even more important who I really am from mystics and spiritual masters. Thank you for this nice short interview as a reminder!

The takeaway is to be honest with your intentions, which is another way of saying to be honest with yourself. If you know who you are and what you want you will have a clear idea of what kind of life you want to live and what your goals should be.After that all you would have to do is work toward your goals all the while being honest with your intentions. I've struggled with this so much when I was in college and grad school and I can't even count the hours and days I've wasted trying to get work done but having nothing to show for it. It was so frustrating that it made me so angry with myself. It's so refreshing to have it articulate the way Shi Heng Yi has. It's some solid life advice.

I love Shi Heng Yi. So wise! If everything is energy and the results of one’s actions are not apparent on the material plane that doesn’t mean one’s efforts are in vain. If someone goes deep inside to heal ancestral traumas for example, that healing has value forwards and backwards in time, but that person doing the healing may not have anything material to show for it. Despite that, it doesn’t mean the value of that life is lessened.

THIS video has taught me, that I am definitely not wasting my time, when I invest it in a good quality massage.!!! That (1) hour I spend on the table I invested back into my health. ------- When I meditate for a few minutes, that helps the brain slow down thus slowing the aging process. --------- Patting my cat, helps my health. Taking a walk, helps my knees and heart rate. I don't make any money doing these things, but I would rather die than do any more work wasting my time in this one very precious life that I am honoured to get to live..!!!

We all do things on automatic mode, but these teachers remind us that paying close attention, to anything we do and any thoughts that come up in our minds, brings about a peace and happiness in itself. Then the thoughts let go by themselves like clouds rolling away, since we only look at them and don't grasp them. Sure, we can find temporary happiness in outer things but it does not satisfy very long and it only disappoints unless we focus on our mind itself which is the true source of happiness. While doing this, it's helpful to breathe more from our waist out ("belly breathing") to stimulate the Vagus Nerve and to have an anchor for the mind-watching. That brings happiness in itself and is the best way to spend life and then we should have the intention of wanting that for everyone.

This directly goes against the buddhist teachings of letting go (of attachment). You don't want to judge whether it's a "valuable experience" or a "waste of time", you should just fully experience whatever you're doing, regardless of outcome. Even with just modern western standards: complaining that you have to do something that is not "in alignment with your wishes" is not very useful. Everyone has their responsibilities, and not all of them are voluntary or pleasant. I do agree with the last part though: if you have to do something, even if it's something that you don't want, you should try to do it with intention, with presence. You might learn something, you might enjoy it a bit.

This understanding of living our lives with purpose that is fruitful is one I can understand, my own life in retrospect (LOOKING BACK) is a life I can see where there are holes that I wasn't mature enough to fill, one very helpful action on my part was to open a home ownership account at my bank, I was fortunate to be able to catch up in my 30th year and secure a home loan, if I was more alert or aware earlier I would be even more prosperous in my judgement for long term life choices.. I always say to anyone of a younger age, LIFE IS A RACE AGAINST TIME ( meaning the end of your life ) you need to be positive about where you as an individual want out of this lifetime & NOT BE COMPLACENT.

Doing nothing is not a waste of time at all if you do it with your whole heart and soul. It's the only time you are within time, floating in it, and not chasing after it or being chased by it. It's just that doing nothing has to be alternated with doing something, and that should be done with your whole heart and soul as well. Living life with deliberation is the key, reframing productivity to what satisfies you as opposed to what makes you a statistical success.

The good thing about direction is that it doesnn't necessarily need to be a grand long term goal. The Bible’s Proverbs, psalms, Jobs verses, parables of Jesus. Dhammapadas suttas of Gautama, the pairs, the flowers, diligence, the king elephant, the fool, the wise. Marcus Aurelius, meditations, Epictetus, Seneca. The Tao to Ching, from Lao tzu and followed by Confucius of the dao. Don’t forget what David said in psalms, he says oh how good it is to be among brethren, he was at his temples as we who follow Christianity as well should be in church, don’t forget about the fellowship. It’s the same with Gautama who delighted to be among the monks and gurus, so do not forget to rejoice among your temples as well. Mind, Body, Spirit. Work, Gym, church. Through suffering I find joy, through adversity I find myself getting closer to stability, where there is no struggle there is no progress, but just have to make sure I’m investing my time in majoring in major things, and not majoring in minor things, calendar, time management, and money management. Circle prayer is better than praying alone, meditating with fellow monks and Buddhist is better than meditating alone, working out with someone is better than working out alone. Thanks again Master Shi and daily stoic. Being blunt and honest, when I peered and studied in stoicism and Epicureanism, I found great confidence in facing my adversity, but going with it as a modem, I say that it was pragmatic thinking. Which is very detrimental, a slow tedious process, contemptment and small steps, leaves you not well in a modem. Stoicism has too much doubts, questions and is ultimately a pragmatic way of life. Pragmatic modem. When I studied the Dhammapada, and eastern philosophies, and spiritual manners of Hinduism, it has a more well tuned flow, it has much more value for money, friendship and harmony with relationships. It is deemed as a practical modem, always flow, always move, and always use common sense. Practical modem. While the Bible, Quran, and Gita, shows a well rounded rhythm, letting go of figuring things out, let go of doubting, let go of fear, and trust in the higher power, movement, fundamentals, principles and virtuous should be automatic. We must go on following the prophets statutes and commandments, in this I find the best modem and rhythm, which is mystical, mysticism is by far the best way of living, all the teachings are in the Bible and other holy books, all we have to do is partake in the life by abiding in the rules and laws givin by the prophets, this is tuned in well with em, by far the greatest is when I practice scripture properly, I slip and stumble sometimes but when I do as our holy books and fellowship does, I find my self making the greatest progress and fulfillment. Thank you daily stoic and Masted Shi.
