I ran the first gen... same problems as you. Reached out to S&B and they updated me to the 1.5 version with new updated parts. Same issue. I did their free upgrade to their newest 2.0 version which replaced all items with the new intakes and seals. Problem identified... it is not the S&B particle Seperator... it is the Polaris Airbox. The Polaris airbox does not seal completely. Dirt bypasses the S&B particle Seperator and goes straight into the bottom of the airbox. Pull your airbox completely, bring it inside your house... seal it... then stick a flashlight inside it. Huge gaps. I will have a video up shortly on my channel showing exactly this issue. I have purchased 2 complete airboxes from Polaris and they do not seal... even with the larger S&B gaskets. Warped airboxes.

I’ll have to check your video out when you post it. I have heard it’s the air box and that’s why they didn’t bigger airbox seal. Once I switched to the roll cage separator I never had any issues with dirt. So I’m not sure if mine was warped or not. I hate the airbox though how you have to pull the seats. I designed a new airbox that opens from the back and you can customize it if you want to open it up for more airflow (for racing). I just need to find someone who wants to build and produce it.

Crazy. Mine is AMAZING. It works flawlessly so far. Was in Utah & Arizona desert dust and my filter is like new. I use the normal version. Not the fancy one that mounts in the factory area. I have mine mounted to the roof.

It seems to be hit or miss with this model and I have been more on the miss end. S&B has the best customer service though and we are testing some things out! You cant go wrong with the OG roll bar mount. The number of people that run them in Baja is living proof of that!

I bought this same unit for my Pro xp4 2022. It came with all the upgraded parts. I installed it and have not had a chance to test ride it since. I live in Michigan and have a place we winter in AZ were I keep it and will be heading there soon to give it a try. I will let you know how it works. It’s very dusty in the desert so will be a good test. I tested the motor after installation so I know it’s working at all the rpms. At idle it runs like 20%, at 2500 rpm 50% and anything above that it runs 100%. I wish the vents had screens as well that only makes since. Hope it works I do not want to have to buy something else! As it was I was cleaning my filter after every ride. Thanks for the video and good luck!

I was probably the first to get this separator back in 2021 when they finally were available and had the Polaris shop install it so it has to be one of the oldest. I have almost 3000 miles on my filter and it still looks like new, i know a lot of the issues were with the seal but the technician apparently was able to get mine to seal properly. When I saw a You Tube video later saying S&B had new updated parts to correct the problem I reached out to them, they asked me to check my filter and if dirty send them a photo, I didn't have to as my was working fine. I think matching that seal up is most of the problems and the difficulty of getting that match is critical. I am glad I had the dealer install this for me as I can't imagine how distressing it is to have to do several times.

I think you are spot on. It’s all in making sure that seal is lined up perfectly. I wish they wouldn’t made some sort of integrated seal so you didn’t have to juggle all three pieces. Especially if you are trying to install by yourself it’s a pretty big pain in the butt. Either way though I have been very happy with S&Bs customer support and I’m beyond happy with the new separator. It works so dang well I haven’t cleaned my filter in over a year!

This video saved me from buying this unit I've researched it alot and even had a local tell me to steer clear of it so I got the roll cage model haven't had a chance to try it but ill give you an update sorry for the bad luck.

Glad I was able to help ya out and you saw this before to you ordered. I have been very happy with S&Bs customer service and I will continue to use their products. I did upgrade to the roll bar option and it kicks ass! I think the fender well version has serious potential but I have several things I would change to it to make it work better. I have had that roll bar one for a couple hundred miles and my filter looks brand new so I’m sure you’ll be happy with it!

I just ordered this unit and now I am wondering if I should just return it for center mount one. It's alot of money for something that doesn't seem to work. I don't recall any issues with the center mount option which I believe is std with other model rzrs.

I have mixed emotions with it. You only hear the bad experiences with things like this and rarely the good ones. I have heard of a ton of people who’s separator works flawlessly! Several racers even have them and swear by this model. Mine just hasn’t been one of those cases. But S&B customer service has been amazing and willing to help me get it dialed in. Personably I like the roll bar option more now just because of how big of a pain this one is to install. Yes it’s hidden out of the way but I would rather have a simple install instead of a pain in the butt.

@@SchmidtysOffroad Do you have an update on your problem? I'm working with S&B with the same problem. I have installed the new parts, didn't fix the issue. The latest fix is a cable that bypasses the fan control module, so the fan runs at full speed all the time. Didn't fix the problem. I'm still working with S&B since nothing they have suggested works. If they would just admit that the air intake in the rear by the bed just does not work when riding in dusty conditions. If they would only relocate the air intake, like they have for the rollbar unit, that would solve this excessive dust issue.

@@ericbrubakken8586 they just sent me that new cable as well. I rode about 20 miles in some dusty conditions but I haven’t checked my filter yet. I’m starting to wonder if some of the problem is at the airbox. I was messing with it and once all the clamps are shut you can still push the cover and compress the gasket proabbly 1/8” to 1/4”. So I wonder if those clamps don’t have enough pressure to keep a tight seal. I’ll be checking my filter soon to see what it looks like. If it’s not better I might be done with this unit and going stock or the roll bar mount and try and come up with a solution to the airbox lid.

@@SchmidtysOffroadThe cable bypassing the fan control module did not change anything. Yesterday S&B came to my house to inspect and replace parts on my seperator. The tech (Ryan, nephew of Berry) ended up replacing everything. Ryan also noticed the upper right corner, facing the unit, has some flex like you mentioned. He said he will talk to the engineers about developing a bracket that will clamp that area more securely. I honestly never expected S&B to drive 3.5 hours to my house to work on this problem. Ryan also told me they are working with four other people on this same problem. I'll say this, S&B really seems interested in fixing this. I don't have another ride for about a week and will have to wait till check it then. But honestly I don't think this issue can be resolved untill the air intake can be change to get cleaner air, instead of the dust coming from the rear of the RZR. But I could be wrong. Please keep everyone posted on your experience with this.

Some companies would just blow you off but they want to make it right and I appreciate that. I’ll have to check my filter soon, I have about 30 miles on it with the new cable so we will see it if was working or not.
