Do you have a plan in case you leave the military? I’m on my way to 10 Platinums and 4 other cards but want to have a plan in case I don’t reenlist and have to close all the cards when AFs hit. I want to keep my points and long credit history after I leave the military.

Yes in case I leave the military, I’ll get rid of all the platinums and downgrade all the credit cards to no annual fee versions. I believe the Bonvoy Brilliant can still be downgraded to the old no annual fee Bonvoy card. As far as the MR points go, I’ll replace the youngest credit card with a no annual fee MR point accruing card such as the BBP or an Amex everyday card. Keeping the credit history is tough. I hope Amex comes out with a no annual fee charge card within the next 20 years, but barring that, you’ll just have to lose that credit history. Also remember closed accounts stay on your credit for 7 years so it won’t negatively effect you until then. The negative effect will be more pronounced for someone who has 17 credit cards rather than someone who has 35 credit cards as the average age of accounts won’t drop as much.

@@NobleCredit Just start preparing eventually for when you leave the military and either use up all your points or you'll have to cancel a card to get the BBP again and of course being charged to annual fees unless canceled when annual fees post. I have 5 cards with Amex and one charge card in the Amex Gold formally Green. I wasn't eligible for the Gold card welcome bonus, just the upgrade, but I took it and use Uber Eats and GrubHub credits once a month. I canceled the no fee EveryDay card at 23 months old and replaced it with the no fee Hilton card. I have the Blue Business Cash, Blue Business Plus, Blue Cash Everyday and the Amazon Business Prime. I'm maxed at 5 again with Amex.

@@NobleCredit Yeah, but BBP is no annual fee. I canceled the regular EveryDay after about 23 months since I was rarely using it and got the regular Hilton Honors no fee card in its place. I still have the BBP. If I cancel one, it would be the Blue Business Cash again, which would be my second time canceling it when the time comes also as a sole prop.

@@NobleCredit When do you get off active military that your waived annual fees end? By that time, then it will much different for you. By then, you will have to decide of continuing to pay the annual fee is worth it or not.

Dam bro u beat me to it. Question so originally i was gonna do the same thing and apply for the no fee hilton card but isnt it better to get the hilton business card, get the 150k and free night, cancel that after year 1 and THEN get the no fee hilton card?

Yes, however, that plan would add another year to my plan to have 3 aspires, and so I think opportunity cost would gear better toward the most direct route to achieve the end state. Both ways work, and the business card’s annual fee is certainly justified, I just want to get to the three Aspires the quickest most efficient way. Also, you never know what could happen in this crazy game. Within the two years it’ll take to get the aspire going the business card route first, Amex could have a negative rule Change that disrupts the plan. Not likely, but how do you factor in a constant becoming a variable? I like that business Hilton plan though!

@@DCGEMINI202 Gotta keep the Reserve and Brilliant due to diversity of points, hotel options, and future possibilities. Plus a nerf could some day come to the Aspire. My P2 would also have 3 aspires and atleast a brilliant. My aspire end game is 6. The delta companion cert comes in clutch when points run out and you need to pay cash for a booking for two. The ability to go anywhere in the US for the price of one ticket is still something I see value in every year and could easily be valued at $1,000+

I got the reserve just incase i wanna stunt and take a lil fling somewhere first class for free without her knowing but i havent done it yet😂 I think ill stick to ur idea and get the no annual fee card. Makes things easier in the long run. U think we can stack the free night with the free night we’ll also get when we switch to the aspire?

@noblecredit I got 6 Amex credit cards and 4 charge cards. 5 are business and 1 is personal credit cards. I just got approved for the Amex business delta reserve card. I have 2 business plus and 1 business cash. 🤷🏾‍♂️
