It's important to realise during the 70's and 80's in the UK Reggae and Ska was huge due to so much Black Jamaican influence at the time. So many big bands came out of it

"I'm not in love" was from 10cc's first lineup, with Kevin Godley and Lol Creme. When they left, the rest of the band brought in new members, and this was one of their biggest singles. So yeah, pretty much a different band, and a very different sound! They recorded this album in Jamaica, and this song was inspired by one of their crew getting mugged while they were there. If you like this style, try their song about touring, "From Rochdale to Ocho Rios". Another white British singer who threw in occasional reggae chops around this time was Elvis Costello (try "Watching the Detectives") - reggae and ska were big in the UK in the late 1970s and early 1980s. And British punk band The Clash, from the same era, used reggae and ska a lot in their sound.

they are still touring. They were here in June, new zealand, I had the privilege of seeing them live and going backstage. Such nice guys, We chatted for um a couple of hours, more like 3. Rick, the guy with the mustache gifted me a ticket and a backstage pass as we are cousins. When I was leaving they didnt let me wait for a taxi by myself they stood there with me until the taxi arrived. Great guys and very humble.

Veteran of 1029 concerts attended since 1973. Name a band, chances are pretty good I've seen them in a live setting. I remember in 1977, 10cc's "Deceptive Bends" tour like it was yesterday. After 5 songs I elbowed my buddy in the ribs and said; "This is the best band I have ever heard live." Move over Pink Floyd, Yes, Queen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eagles, Billy Joel and Led Zeppelin, there's a new sheriff in town. "10cc", one of the most underrated and talented bands ever.

One of my favorite art rock bands of all. 10cc mixes campy humor in to their material. Very clever and competent band, but IMHO they lost their edge slightly with the loss of Godley and Creme. I listen to all of their albums regularly but do tend to drift towards the pre Deceptive Bends ones more often.
