love hearing different cultures get down to Waylon! Waylon was a disc jockey when he first started out, and he was fired because he had put Little Richard on repeat. As a kid he would sneak to white only bars and colored only bars, and his idea was to mix those kinds of music together. People labeled him a country singer, but he was always a Singer of Soul!

Waylon was a great interpreter of songs, and his voice was both powerful and expressive. He championed the use of bass and drum in Country Music, giving it a new beat. He also developed his own signature guitar sound, unlike anyone else. Ralph Mooney on steel had perfect tone and was one of the all time great steel players. I felt like the world stopped when I first listened to Waylon's 1978 Greatest Hits album, and I've been listening ever since. He was prolific, so there is a lot of great "Waylon Music" out there.

Waylon put this on his last album released while alive,Never Say Die Live at the Ryman. He said he didn't do the song justice on this album.Ladies Love Outlaws was recorded while he was sick.It was the last album he did before getting artistic control from RCA.

Biz- Next from Waylan Jennings should be Willie Nelson. Just about anything, his catlouge is DD Deep. "Bloody Mary Morning" maybe to start.

Now...if you want a serious Jennings jam... Check out his duet with Johnny Cash... Ain't no good...in a cold hearted woman. Also check out The Highwayman...a quartet with Jennings..Cash...Kris Kristopherson...and Willie Nelson.
