I love this song so much. Love the rhythmic, driving, hypnotic sound and his voice is… yeah, just so good. Glad you loved it, too. When I first discovered this a few years ago, I had a renewed hope that maybe the blues could continue.

First time I heard him was the song Our Love and I thought he was somebody from the 70s that I had missed and I couldn’t believe it when I googled him and found out he is a current artist. I haven’t heard close to his whole catalog but I’ve heard enough to know he should definitely get more publicity than he does.

He was discovered by SRVs brother, Jimmy Vaughn. Taught how to play by his friend in school , a little white girl.

When I lived across country, my brother, and a couple friends would get together every Thursday night for dinner and making wine. We were finally able to do over 150 gallons per season (4) once we got into the groove. One stipulation was: Blues music only, on the stereo and Gary Clark was very new and popular about 10 years ago and we all felt this song and WHEN THE TRAIN PULLS IN.

I feel so embarrassed that I didn’t know about him until he was on a song with the foo fighters. But I’m a fan ever since. Dude reminds me so much of BB King. So good.

Gary's from Austin, played w/ SRV when he was a kid. This is after his first album came out. Now he has had several albums & an even better guitarist & style king. He's played w/ everyone & my favorite album is "The Story of Sonny Boy Slim" hands down a flawless album.

Gary Clark Jr. is the future of a long line of great guitar genius that has come down through the year. His future is so bright you gotta wear shades. I know you love Guitarist, Gary has a great catalog of songs you should play. I''ve seen him twice, it's spectacular. If you want to hear someone who is the father of bending strings and amazing playing, try Roy Buchanan. I own every record he ever made. No special effects, no pedals, just his guitar and bending the strings. Never got the respect he deserved. Jeff Beck adored him ('Cause We Ended As Lovers) is dedicated it to him. SRV said he was beyond anything he had ever seen. Gary Moore called him The Master. But he's mostly unknown except to the Guitar Gods. He was called The Master of The Telecaster. Old School Great. RIP Roy Buchanan. kzbin.info/www/bejne/enWyen9rhNapj9U

This was his “coming out party”. No one had heard of him before this performance and that’s why he chose this song to be the main feature, “you gonna know my name by the end of the night”. Yeah everyone that was deep into music knew exactly who he was after this lol. Given that the audience had ZERO idea who he was I would say their reaction was actually pretty good. They recognized his talent even though he wasn’t known at the time even MID SONG , which if you know blues crowds, that only happens if you got real chops and a really good audience

Hey Biz, I wonder if you'd be interested in giving country music a listen. If so then, I'd like to suggest "Ricky Van Shelton - Oh Pretty Woman" (Live) I wouldn't be surprised if you've heard a clip of this tune from a movie, tv show or commercial. In 1999 this song was honored with a Grammy Hall of Fame award and was named one of Rock n Roll Hall of Fame's 500 songs that shaped Rock n Roll. I really enjoyed listening to Gary Clark Jr. again he has been truly neglected from KZbin reactions. I'm glad to see you rectify that, Biz

Much earlier he was touted as the next "Eric Clapton". The hype kinda misjudged his whole 'thing'. He's not Eric. He's a very very good Gary. Eric has had him down to Antigua for his guitar-fest, rehab fundraiser Crossroads. Well respected, shows up occasionally on music award shows, often as a guest or sideman. He good.
