Tim, the AE has hacking second. New version of calibre 96 (sans date) has hacking seconds

It appears your XPS has a problem. My AE XPS definitely hecks (just double-checked)

250k for the Patek is absolutely insane. If I had a 250k budget, even though I think the green nautilus is beautiful, I’d have a Zeitwerk or a whole host of other better watches.
@HRM.H3 күн бұрын
Can buy a 30 piece collection for 250K..
@Greysprunkiyay3 күн бұрын
Zeitwerks cost $60,000 secondhand lol but with the Lange service experience you may reach $250,000 dealing with their BS. I’ll never buy a Lange after reading testimonials online and in watch groups.
@DrFearCo3 күн бұрын
@ I disagree, in general, with the argument that you can buy 1000 of X for the price of one Y. If you have the budget for Y and want the quality of Y, you typically don’t want 1000 of some cheaper crappier version. But the nautilus is not worth $250,000 due to the fact that the price is entirely hype. I have a hulk submariner that I paid retail for in 2018, it’s not worth more than that.
@Epicacactus2 күн бұрын
@@DrFearCo”quality of Y” lol in this case Y is the same quality as artisans elsewhere who simply didn’t choose to mothball their most successful product, and therefore can still be acquired for $25-45k 😂
@gclip98832 күн бұрын
@@DrFearCo The problem is that the Nautilus is a $25,000 watch, not a $250,000 watch in terms of finishing. Watches that actually retail for that money have far superior finishing and are usually made out of precious metal. You could get a Vacheron 222 made out of solid gold and still have 180K to spend on other watches. You could buy a bunch of Lange watches to build up enough credit and then buy an Odysseus. 250K could afford you a complete collection with watches that have equal or better finishing.

Chopard changes 2 things in the Alpine Eagle XPS and I buy it immediately. Change the case diameter to 39mm and the endlink to endlink distance to 48-49mm. Make the bracelet taper a little more
@i3lack0ut3 сағат бұрын
Technically the chopard is a 39 mm. They count in the crownguard in the measurement (why tf ever they would do that). The round diameter as a normal person would measure it is 39 mm. And it wears like one. It‘s a perfect watch

No on the fly adjustment on either, or a lot of super high end watches. I love my Sub.

I need to see the Chopard in person and try it on. Because despite it checking a lot of admirable boxes, it still looks to me like an 80s Hublot.

I liked the Nautilus back when it was $7,000’ish. But once it became some “cult icon” amongst people who didn’t have a clue about watches I quickly lost interest in it. Now, that Alpine Eagle is beautiful! I like their nautical dial. But my next real estate job is to go paint Pittsburgh. I haven’t decided whether to add warmth, such as that salmon dial, or to go do a lavender theme, such as the watch you “unboxed” yesterday. Maybe a peachy-orange theme beckons…

The Chopard Alpine Eagle is a beautiful watch. The Nautilus has never really interested me outside of the flex appeal.
@SalikaanКүн бұрын
Ahh the Hype watch versus a IMO better alternative. Nothing against the Nautilus it's a lovely watch but it's not worth it's current price you're paying for the name and hype around it and hey if that's your thing by all means go get one.
@Mall_Watch3 күн бұрын
I'd be careful at saying an industrial product that is valued so far beyond its merit will hold at these levels. Taste can and do shift and the criticism of the design remain valid, those caused the nautilus to be a 18-20k watch not long ago.
@xtr10923 күн бұрын
i actually prefer the look of the eagle
@jire98313 күн бұрын
The chopard movement and the dial are a beauty. However, I'm not quite sold on the bracelet. Something about it looks cheap for the price point. IMO VC makes the best bracelet in the integrated bracelet sports watch category.

If the bracelet tapered on the AE it would be a knockout, but as it doesn't, it looks clumsy almost

Both are amazing watches, the Patek is hyped for a reason. The alpine eagle is such a good looking piece on wrist, in different lighting situations and from different angles. I'd be so lucky to own either.

Re the ‘idiot - proof’ Patek bracelet….the only ‘idiot’ would be an owner that would take a watch like that to a jeweler that does not usually deal with watches at that level, to get the watch properly fitted….
I've always hated how Patek and VC never match the date wheel to the dial color. Yes, the white background adds contrast and legibility, but it also looks cheap IMO.
@bmunson49202 күн бұрын
Some brands never get called on (Rolex), while others seem to have it constantly pointed out (even when they are only a fraction of the cost of watches no one cares about.)….me? I don’t care, I like my clothes to have contrast (pants vs. shirt, etc), I never view it as a detraction if the date window contrasts with the dial…
