I 100% agree with Mark’s sentiment that he won’t waste his time on things that don’t fit him. As I look at my own collection, I realize that half of the watches I don’t wear is mainly due to the size. It helps narrow down what I really like and search for. Great interview as always

I absolutely love that you are pushing smaller sizes! The clothes comparison is just the thing. When I realised this and started sticking with only smaller watches - I feel a lot more attached to them (eg a nice simple calatrava.. my little cartier tank etc!)

I sent my (1950s) 2453 Calatrava to Patek Geneva for servicing and they also did a beautiful job with it. One of the lugs was bent so they had to do some polishing but did it so lightly that I could not tell. Like Mark, I was surprised by how little the service and repair cost.

100% with you on smaller size watches Mark. Love the size small clothing availability in store analogy. It is like the watchmakers have chosen to ignore the fact that most Asian Men have smaller builds/wrists and would prefer more appropriately sized watches. The market for this is huge in Japan, Korea, China, HK, Singapore and the rest of South East Asia therefore should not be seen as a financial risk but an opportunity. Lastly, I can understand the desire to size up sport swatches for legibility and heft but dress watches have to be smaller in order to look elegant and to fit under the cuff.
@oneal14attnet
@oneal14attnet 2 жыл бұрын
Great video! Wish we had more reference shots to follow along. Going back to smaller watches is the way to go. Men seem to always underestimate the size of their wrists and overestimate the right size of their watches for wear. Mark said it right when he corrected the term “lady’s watch” with “unisex watches.” Wear what fits vs what the label says. Same goes for clothing. Mark has this size thing spot on!

I know Govberg owns the company and all. I just hate having to hear him speak, he just seems pretentious and like he’s there just because the ownership allows him to put himself there. I am a big fan of Govberg jewelers and watchbox, just don’t think that it’s necessary to have the owner/owners kid in the interviews.

100% I think a less rushed approach with more reference shots is the lesson learned from this project. Last time Mark brought a pile of actual watches over from HK, they got stranded in the US for a year with Covid considerations. We didn't want to risk the same this time, but we should have included more model shots to illustrate the discussion. Best, Tim

Funny story. I own a Universal Geneve Ellipse solar burst grey dial, where the minute marker tip is painted in metal to adjust visual lenght, as the patek mentioned. Due to connection btw UG and Patek through Stern family at the time they were resellers I wonder how deep the connection btw the two companies goes..an intertwined story in many instances. A nice guy but come on guys this is sickening. Mark cho comes from one of Asia’s wealthiest families worth Billions.There is nothing special or specially interesting in someone who can literally buy whatever they want and when they want. He didn’t have to save or beg to get anything in his life and watchbox just looks creepy Crawley pandering to a wealthy client. Not the kind of content that appeals to most people interested in watches. Ps. I bet this comment will get deleted. I love the comment . “ you have been collecting for a very long time” Jesus he is only 32.
