I’m not able to view the livestream but this weekly upload is now firmly in my weekly YT watch list. Having a current dealer be so open and honest is a breath of fresh air. Maybe in the future their could be a live phone in? Looking forward to what topics you have coming to the channel in future episodes.

Love the video and the honesty about servicing. You’re spot on, my friend used to manage a Rolex Service Center and he instructed me the same thing one time I brought my Rolex to him. He said- “why do you want a service?”, me - “because the service interval is up”, him - “don’t open a watch until it acts up, the more times you open it, there is more chance of damage and the service won’t cost more if you leave it until it acts up”.

You advices are enlightened and logically lead us to think about the right questions, wonder the right thing prior to “invest” or spend or money in any time keeper. Your opinion is always of great help, well appreciated! Keep it going!!!

Hi David, I love the channel and also spend a lot of time watching people streaming on Twitch. I would take a look at some of the top creators there for how they run their streams as the start could be smoother (can create a countdown with a picture and song) and then can also reposition screens / laptop for a better angle. That way you aren’t looking backwards to the screen when trying to share. Other than that, once you got going it was great and love the channel!

In regards to the question about what specific Rolex models to get to be considered for the higher end models down the road, each AD is different. I got a Batman on jubilee (the Bruce Wayne) from an out of state AD I visited for 5-10 minutes. I put in the request in August, got it Oct 1. No purchase history at all. It really does just depend on where you go. From another out of state AD I got the z-blue Milgauss in July after a 6 week wait, then the Polar Exp II in November after a 4 month wait. I had never bought anything from them before the Milgauss. These were my top 3 choices of Rolex I wanted. Now, I know neither the Milgauss or the Polar are high ends, but I think the Batman qualifies, at least to me it does. I wouldn't buy any pieces you don't want just for a shot to get a high end some time down the road. Might as well use that money, go gray, and get what you want immediately.

Watches are very unique in that Market prices are solely created by dealers. A dealer is not going to take a loss on a watch and is willing to wait until they find a buyer. Hense 'no dip'. The price is set at the retail level rather than on wall street. Most other markets you can participate indirectly through stocks, futures etc. meaning to varying degrees they are manipulated and players pump and dump the market. Watches in my opinion are a very true market making them a safer store of value than most other assets. (The right watches of course)
@conduit2423 жыл бұрын
You mean the Rolex market…That’s the very definition of a manipulated market. There is no legitimate price discovery at scale. If it was legitimate, dealers would embrace futures as a way to hedge against held inventory, just like gold coin dealers.
@rickfowler37103 жыл бұрын
@@conduit242 Hello Rob, Yes by (the right watches) I mean select models from Rolex, AP, Patek etc. I assume by manipulation you are referring to flippers. Most of us do not agree with it but it doesn't mean it's not a legitimate form of demand. Flipping is a symptom of lack of supply, not market manipulation. If Rolex increase there supply and or prices the flipping would then stop. High demand is causing the high prices and all the flippers are doing is giving the supply to the grey market and taking the spread between the rrp and the market price. Grey market dealers don't need to hedge becuase they're protected by the increasing demand and the fact they are the market setters and look to each other to set prices. If some dealers try to undercut the market to increase sales it will just be bought up by the other dealers, so the only way you get falling prices is if enough dealers drop there prices which will only happen if demand drops.

I saw this guys review of the new Omega line with Paul Thorpe and that’s when I realized. David is nothing more than a greedy grey market dealer capitalizing on the inflated nonsense prices of Rolex, AP and the like. Though I can admit, not all of the pieces were a hit, he had such a snobby attitude towards the ones that he knew were good. The last thing David wants is for people to realize that they’re getting screwed when they buy the hyped up nonsense. Enjoy your money David…

David, what’s your opinion on the JLC brand? I feel that great quality is there but the market resale is quite poor… What’s wrong with them?
@PSKuddel3 жыл бұрын
I love them too, but they haven‘t developed a consistent design for most of their watches as every generation looks different, they haven‘t built a line of sports watches with a good design (the Master Compressors were horrible) and a great metal bracelet (an art only mastered by Rolex, AP, PP, VC and Breguet in my opinion) and although the very complicated show models are incredible, the entry level models are just way too expensive for the movement finishing you get and this way, the second market value will be poor, which will add to the unattractiveness of buying a JLC. Also, they‘re part of Richemont and have to share or even give away inventions to the higher-market brand ALS and therefore also cannot build up as much reputation here.
