Sometimes . . . be careful what you wish for. Great story, but I was wondering, what is the story behind "blood and whiskey" films? Even if there isn't much of a story with that name, sounds like there could be. Seems like the new "her" was more than a bit different, did she also secretly have a clone of him made as well? My tech thought of the moment, how did the clone know when to be "activated", this was done at Luna after the death of the other is "officially" confirmed?

... I liked it... In my opinion , this short story tells us a lot about misunderstood human love... Original Luna really loved him & made a clone of herself for him... He on the other hand, 'loved' in a very selfish way. Only his big Ego made him capable of killing her... Stupid of him to forget that the clone Luna will know EVERYTHING...

Makes sense. Mortality is a painful limit to our lives that we all in some way strive to out run. If you loved someone enough to force them to be with you forever the only way to repay them is to do the same. Both were selfish in the end, yet both just wanted to never be alone. Gorgeous statement of love and fear.

@@bloodandwhiskeyfilms ..... Rebecca, a fine film, enjoyed every second of it. I'm only left to wonder if the clones have clones of their own, and if so, this "pillow game" may last in perpetuity, making their beautiful lives (pre-sickness, of course) just a sad illusion. BTW, I am rather partial to your name as it is the name of my great grandmother, eldest sister, and second daughter. Sort of a family tradition. ✌️☺️

@cbot3752 жыл бұрын
That's true but you also have to realize that many people are only addicted to the chemical dependency of the way the person makes them feel, and a lot of the time it's not necessarily the person themselves and the well being of that other person. Takes a lot of introspection to realize if you genuinely really care about the other person or if you're just attached to the chemical high they give you, it's a thin line.

Lust is selfish, love is never selfish if its truly love. Sometimes its hard to tell the difference as some of the feelings overlap. Example would be lust would turn violent after being rejected, love on the other hand would want the best for their partner and while being deeply hurt would never think of hurting them. Most in the world today do not know the difference.
@birdieg36146 ай бұрын
@@Firefly-101I was about to write that when I saw your answer to the comment. Totally agree. Lust and love are just not the same. The one is selfish, the other selfless. And I would like to add: Lust is very common, but love is rare.

Wow! Did not see that end coming! But, after watching it a few more times, I can see the signs now. I can see how devastated he is when he hears the news that her condition is terminal. I might m-a-y-b-e see why he suffocates her so that she's no longer in pain, even when the doctor says that she 'might' be getting better. But he should have been straight up with her clone about it from the start. But the gig was up for him when he said it was "just her time". I'm not up on things clone-wise so I don't understand how the clone would have her memories. I always thought a clone would be like a clean slate, i.e. to a clone's perspective time starts now. And I still don't see where she drugged him. It must have been when she poured the wine, I just can't see it. Another question: if the clone does retain the memories of it's predecessor, is this the start of an endless cycle of revenge killings? The only hope there would be that someone at sometime sees the ongoing situation and convinces the other one to stop the cycle. I still thoroughly enjoyed the movie. The acting was top notch, too, which made you forget it's a movie. It's good to hear that you have a series ready to go. I can't wait to see it! 😁👍

This was incredible and thought provoking. Would they consider each other even? Would either of them be guilty of murder? Do they now go on to lead other lives? At first I was annoyed that he killed her, thinking it was to set up a hamfisted ending, but the way she gave him so many chances to admit what he had done, perhaps it would have ended differently for him. Or, like a perosn who suddenly gets in shape or rich, maybe she wanted something more. Love the tangents this short provokes. It was a great choice to leave the working of the technology vague to the watcher, we had no idea if she had any memories, and after we see that she did, then when the "backup" occurred, right until the last moment. We were in his shoes wondering if hed get away with it every second.

@AviNerenberg Жыл бұрын
@@bloodandwhiskeyfilms aha I can't say that I expected the director to respond to my comment, but since you're asking I'll try to elaborate - I think that this is a fun short with a clever conceit, and the longer takes with subdued dialog & frequent creeping zooms have a subtlety to them that's really effective at creating an otherwordly atmosphere. However, the boyfriend's initial betrayal is such a massive escalation in stakes that the relatively normalcy of the couple's other interactions (both before the murder, and especially after) feel alien in contrast. Essentially, the profound effect that a choice like this would have on an otherwise loving relationship doesn't feel fully realized in the context of the film. I think that I'd find the sudden escalation more compelling if those other more benign interactions felt heightened in their own right. Your short is pretty strongly reminiscent of Branden Cronenberg's Possessor, which I think is playing with similar themes & a similarly surreal tone - some of the benign scenes had in that film feel like they could fit right in here, and I think that that's a great example of the type of heightening that I'm talking about. I'm short on time right now, but I definitely have more thoughts on your film (I've barely touched on the great editing & sound design!) - if you're interested, I would love to continue our discussion in a better location. I'll shoot you an email at the address listed on your website!

LOVED IT ! BUT her murder was coverable, his was not, so surely she would be reprimanded for his murder as he had no underlying terminal illness to make it appear as a natural death…so if his new clone wakes up and reports his own murder its curtains for her clone as she can’t prove (to a court) that her death was murder as a defence, and she can’t claim self defence, it was a revenge crime and she was judge jury executioner …plus why go back and play murder games with a murderer …you’re now as bad as him …or did she make/Pay for his CLONE and alter memories if she did then she’s messed up more than he is…at the end of the day they would both realise they are both murdering scum and split no?
