Until we have a second planet the chances of our extinction are extremely high, there have already been aatleast 5 major extinction level events here. So the idea to have a second planet is to massively increase our risk of survival and never going extinct. In saying that then we will need to find another solar system in like 1 billion years or so when our local star decides to start fusing helium into carbon and go into the red giant phase and will literally consume mercury, venus, earth and mars soooo yeahhh there is that. Then even eventually all the stars will die as the universe continues to expand and everything is so spread out that matter cant coalesce back into anything and eventually all that will be left is blackholes and even they too will die from spewing hawking radiation out to the point where they run dry and fizzle out. No light, no planets, no nothing. Universal death Enjoy earth while its here because it will be gone no matter what we do

In the pairing scene the young men were called 'Mars' and the young women were called 'Venus'. I thought that was interesting because back in the early 1990's ( I think...maybe a bit earlier...I can't remember), there was a popular book here in the U.S. called "Women Are From Venus, Men Are From Mars". It was about how men & women think and feel differently about certain emotions and psychological conditions and how those differences can be acknowledged and compromised with...or something like that. I think it was directed to married people like a self-help book.

Basically a quickie remake of Logan's Run. Also non-believable, because even a High School student would notice the difference between dropping anything on Earth and dropping something when on Mars - the acceleration would be radically different, as would walking, jumping, etc. And so it would be instantly obvious to anyone that they weren't really on Mars if everything worked, gravitation-wise, as it does here on the only planet we're actually evolved to live on.

In the past, marriage was arranged to ensure strength of society and family. Communism works towards the destruction of the family, just like what is happening right now. I suggest you read *"the planks of the communist manifesto".* Society is already over 60% communism. People don't see it because capitalism is being blamed for the problems this communalist society has brought. A central bank controlling the price of money (interest rates), controls the price of everything = central planning which is communalism. There is very little real free market capitalism. @AbhishekKumar-vp7ey3 жыл бұрын
Mr. Robinson It was not belief, the surface was actually destroyed in the movie, but there was a time frame given by scientists to re-surface but the powerful people did not want to lose power/control they held in artificial city/bunker 1000ft below surface that was built to last a few centuries or so. And in spite of the deteriorating underground systems and failing power source, the Politicians discouraged re-surfacing talks/thoughts and spread fear about the surface.

accepting the fate of what life hands you - knowing that the perfect helpmate - lover - friend came and went a few times when you was young before you could feel with your heart and soul and only think with your mind - that is what wisdom is - which then leads to endurance in a barren landscape of strangers and their insanity melted out in various degrees = while you grow older waiting for your own new earth - your own new existence beyond what you can imagine here - surrounded by people who still thing something great is going to happen to them when it already has come and gone. If they could only see that - then things would not have been in vain - because acceptance of what purity of love is knows no time or needs any specifics to be a life long treasure that is your souls to keep. right now we are all Martians living on earth - perhaps we will learn to BE human on earth "together" - with no need to wait for a better day to arrive because we are living it NOW.

As humanity learns social distancing, and covering our faces, and only communicating via a device, is it a wonder film makers are showing a future where we are unable to relate to one another, maybe this is their way of warning us.

@Susie Jones @DUST AT FIRST, I thought this was WAAAY cheesey. Bad I had second thoughts. The music at the end, the year drop being blown from her left eye, by the wind, was all too much! Great Movie!!!

I can think of 1 tv series and multiple books that have this same twist. Called it as soon as it started....
@MisterBethany3 жыл бұрын
Really old and thoroughly worn-out plot twist. Might have been worse if there'd been an implication they were 'Adam and Eve' at the end but that's the only step further into dismal I can think of right now. The problem is that so many people think 'science fiction' begins and ends with what they see on tv or films - it has been alive in its identifiable form for almost a hundred years. I watch a lot of these Dust films and thing "wow, that's just like a good story from GALAXY/FSF/INFINITY from the 1950s...and then sometimes I think "No, that would have been rejected.after the first - and at that moment genuinely new - go-round of that plot device."

Perhaps the experiment underground is to find people who are suitable for inhabiting the new frontier. People who are irrepressibly themselves, and resist peer pressure. People who seek to live fully. I notice the other woman didn't try too hard to stop them. :)

So this is basically a short version of Logan's Run, but when she finally got to see him in bright sunlight, she realized too late how ugly he actually was, and started crying, because she could not go back.
