Besides being a really good sci-fi short, this was also a story about healing a relationship. As he said, "We have to disconnect in order for me to get a sense of what the problem is." And quite literally that is what happened; their momentary loss brought them closer together in the end. Very well done.

Definitely pulled me in with the story line. I'm not a film critic, nor a professional in the industry, but I thought Ms. Dodd did a great job of playing the scientist so totally driven that she didn't realize what she was missing until she nearly lost it. And Mr. Atkins clearly showed his conflict between his frustration and professionalism as an engineer. And the overall technical quality was as good as anything I've seen from Hollywood. I never subscribe to anything on youtube. But I'm making an exception in this case, and looking forward to more of this saga.

If they were truly "better" than Hollywood then people would be lining up outside theaters for Dust. I'm not denigrating Dust, they're doing a fantastic job helping to turn out good future scifi films. Being a short, it’s one of the best written Sci-fi stories I've seen in a long time. Like all the greats that came before, Arthur C.Clark, Ray Bradbury, Frank Herbert, Isaac Asimov, Jules Verne, and of course H.G.Wells, Oceanus will leave you in awe with its suspense and intrigue along with it's musical-score that sounds as if where written buy one the long time great masters, leaving you starving for more. The sound, the lighting, the Special Effects, the plot, the acting - every single piece of this was just exquisite. The pod controls were smooth, simple, the lighting - again - an INCREDIBLY convincing underwater environment, made infinitely more convincing by the distant shots of a person at the controls of the pod (incredible f/x work). I have seen every short out there - literally 99.9% of them - and this was by far the most coherent, best-acted, smoothest-edited, superior computer-generated f/x work, and best-edited short I have ever seen. Much better than some movies. It must have been very difficult to know when to stop, as the skill level of your team seems boundless - I will be waiting eagerly to see where this goes. Congratulations - you all have a HUGE future ahead of you. [Just one (seeming) tiny, tiny error: Under "cast" you have "Commander Mitch as Conrad Bruce Davison" on your comments below the video. I think you meant "Conrad Bruce Davison as Commander Mitch," in keeping with the order of the other credits. This is so small it seems petty to mention it - but it's just the way my mind works]. Congratulations on painstaking, beautiful, and dedicated work well done!

Great storytelling with visuals that made the ocean a character in this film. I thoroughly enjoyed the dynamic and evolving chemistry between the two characters. It was good to see Bruce Davison in a supporting role. Even without going onto the station proper, it was one of the finest undersea bases I have ever seen depicted in a film of any caliber. This was a great indie film, and I hope we get to follow the aftermath of the cataclysm that will change all of their lives, forever...

A brilliant story, masterfully told. The human element is never lost to the technology in the story. And the tech is amazing. VFX are big budget quality and the sets truly fantastic. The sound design and music, perfectly mixed. I see a singular, clear minded, and unique voice in the writing whose future is to be seen as bright as any of his more famous peers. I can’t wait to see part two. And if anyone has any sense, this should be further expanded upon beyond even that.

First-rate...and I don't tend to be very generous with praise. Hydrodynamics are a bit sketchy (who would orient a barrel that direction? That would take twice the energy to move it through the water), and the whales had to breathe that air out there, but I can overlook that stuff because the aesthetic was terrific. The uniforms were great. The ships were great. The dialogue was great...well...mostly. The lighting was phenomenal. The acting was pretty decent. Maybe lacking a little in emotional realism. But that is okay, if this is for kids too. Too much emotional intensity can be rough on them. Shows often have people quickly running out of oxygen in large spaces...when it would take quite some time to run out. And with a CO2 scrubber, you might last a couple of days in that ship...with no added oxygen. A spacesuit or diving suit is completely different, of course. And an oceanographer would never call those barrels, "pods", as "pod" already means something to them...a group of whales or dolphins. An engineer might suggest it, but it would be struck down very quickly. And if she was not using deep learning, she is not winning any Nobel. If she was, it is odd it was not mentioned. The symbol on the uniform? Better than any symbol on any show, I have seen.

Fantastic! Actually threw in a surprise there with the meteorites... and other elements, well done! Great writing too, like when a character says one thing in context to the conversation but it also means something else... eg: "You got us exactly to where I wanted to be" ...relating to their position in the sea, but also their 'relationship' and being in the sea in the first place. Well done!
