Love that Longines! Rare enough to stand out from the crowd, and it looks like it cost twice what it does. Tissot was my first "luxury" watch as well - the PRX was a bit too chunky for my taste, and I ended up selecting the Gentleman model -- one of the most undervalued/under-rated watches on the market.

@LombardoJoe

@@Mrgreen765 The only real difference besides the movement (which is still a solid quartz movement and will keep fantastic time) is the dial. The quartz is sunburst and the automatic is waffled. Great list fellas 👍 My first luxury watch was the Oris Big Crown ProPilot. Given my relatively modest watch budget it represented quite a substantial leap from the just over £300 I’d previously spent on my most expensive watch at the time but it’s proven to have been well worth it. I’ve since added an Oris Aquis to my collection but the ProPilot is absolutely my go to watch for anything and everything other than activities that require a beater.

I was never really into watches til last month, I was just strolling inside a mall and just for the heck of it, I entered a Tag Heuer Boutique. The salesperson there allowed to try on some of the displays and something in me fell in love with watches. I almost bought coz of impulse a Carrera Calibre 5 grey dial. Good thing I got back to my senses and decided to check other options and reviews. After a month of watching youtube watch influencers, entering other boutiques and trying on some watches, I finally pulled the trigger and bought my first ever entry level luxury watch few days ago.. Mine is the Grand Seiko SBGX265, it's the 37mm JDM version of the one in the video with the blue-purpleish dial, astonishing watch. Goes with everything, insanely accurate and the build quaility is simply out-of-this-world for the money. The quartz in this is a work of art in itself. Makes me question the need for any other watch with how versatile it is, really. I'm also pretty positive it has the highest level of finishing among the ones shown in the video.

My first luxury watch was a gift from my parent, the TAG Heuer Link Dual Time. To date I still believe this is the best alternative to a Rolex Explorer II. Too bad the Link line has largely been ignored by both TAG and buyers. The first one I bought myself was the Black Bay GMT last spring. Probably the best entry-level luxury GMT you can get until Longines pushes out their Spirit Zulu Time. I will never sell either of the two.

Some great choices there guys. some of these if not all could be on the list of someone who already has the first luxury watch. As a starter though I think the PRX PM80 is the stand out bargain. you could even include the chronograph version that uses the well proven Valjoux 7753 movement but it costs a grand more but still a fair way inside the 2K price. I have to agree with the inclusion of the 'Murph' as well. In 38mm guise it's going to fit more wrists than the bigger original but for those with thicker wrists that should be included as well. A classic watch design made to look old (as per the film) with a modern movement and manufacturing. Other suggestions that fit the bill would include more from Longines with the Sector dial and classic Tuxedo designs. They even have some moon phase models available at 'good' prices compared to some other brands. It's also good to see Oris getting a mention here, the brand has modern and classic divers, pointer date options and other classic styles that have the evergreen well proven Sellita based engines. In house designed cal 400 options for some Oris models could be considered as well although a fair bit more expensive are still pretty good considering the specs and warranty.

@@JackoFrenchtonDoggo I loved the blue original, green was a bit flash, as well as the new purple. Not enough contrast in the baby blue or salmon pink, black hits the spot. 😎

Good list. Mine was a CW diver. But I traded it for a vintage watch. I'm looking forward to getting another CW...the green Bel Canto.

I have the previous 41mm Carrera Calibre 5 day date in bleu with steel bracelet. It was indeed my first. Bought it when my son was born. It's an amazing watch. Super accurate and looks good in a suit or bathing trunks.

That Christopher Ward is mesmerizing. Also a sucker for bulbous bezels.

That Longines is very clean but for that price you can get a Valjoux chrono…even in ETA variant

Tudor and Tag are my favorite first luxury watch brands. My first luxury watch is a Tag F1 in quartz in blue. 😊 So clean, simple, versatile and good.

I have the C65 Aquitain GMT on my list for 2023(cream dial, blue bezel). I am really digging their watches and hope they soon start making their movements in house.
