Enjoyed watching your teardown and rebuild of this watch. I ended up getting an Invicta 25341 watch while on a cruise back in 2018. My previous daily wear watch broke while on the trip, and I got the Invicta on clearance, so it wasn't a huge investment. It became my new daily wear watch, and performed better than expected for a few years. Then it started running fast, like an hour+ in a 24hr period. It was still under warranty, so I called to inquire about servicing. Long story short, they said I wasn't winding it enough, and the movement was running faster as the spring unwound. I followed their instruction to wind twice as many times as recommended in the manual, and that worked for about another year (past the end of the warranty). Now, with a full winding, it will stop completely in a little less than 12hrs. I'm guessing that the directed overwinding stressed out part of the mechanism, and now that it is out of warranty, the cost of repair is more than I paid for the watch. In doing a little research, it appears that I could get a replacement of the same movement (2650SSZ) for $17-$30 depending on the supplier. After watching your video, I'm pretty certain that I could swap out the movement, transfer the hands, dial, and reassemble without too much difficulty. My question to you would be, is there a better quality movement that will still drop in with ease, or am I stuck using this movement? Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have!

I agree, I was taken in and bought a few which I don’t wear anymore. My first was a specialty GMT that was supposedly a Swiss Made Ronda quartz movement . It worked fine until the battery went dead. I took it to replace the battery and the movement was dead with the new battery and when she tipped the watch over to replace the batterie one of the hour markers fell off. The strap broke and couldn’t be replaced on another one. I think overall they are a scam and I wouldn’t buy another one. Invicta collectors have many, many watches, the sad thing about that is with the money they spent they could probably buy one awesome watch like a Omega.

While I agree Invicta has made some questionable decisions wrt their marketing and styling they continue to make some nice watches with good quality and at reasonable cost. I own a couple of such examples, the model 31290 "1953" and and model 8927OB. Both are Submariner "homages" with Seiko NH35A movements that keep excellent time and can be purchased between $100-$120 US. They have screw down backs and screw down crowns for good water resistance. In fact several KZbinrs have put them through their paces diving and pressure testing with no issues. My experience with them has been very positive.

In this case, I'm guessing the repair cost more than buying a brand-new Invicta watch. So, the customer must have had an emotional connection with that particular watch.

Hi. You make it look so easy I enjoy watching it. I need to ask a question I can buy a INVICTA WATCH MODEL Reserve Magnum Zeus Tria Swiss Z60 chronograph Lume men’s watch. This watch has the main watch the at the bottom has two very small clocks every thing works and all 3-keep time the only thing is when the knob pulled out to move the hands the won’t move this is the small left hand side clock . Cold this be fix like some one as good as you or is it a invicta repair only. It must work off the watch battery. I have many invicta watches and never had a problem. I have a Ingersoll bison 54 or 58 it’s the big one with the red button I had so much trouble the main thing in side broke it was repaired then broke again and repaired the just after the warranty the two small hands pinged off I think because it was repaired so much that’s why they came off this was few years ago I still have it and I mite put them on my self it’s a automatic watch. It’s a nice watch the sold for £350 I got it brand new for £150. a good make like that and nothing but trouble zeon in London uk have never none it before . I have a few invicta watches and I do like them. Because this Invicta watch works buy the watch battery I would think it would have to be fix by Invicta I just thought are ask you if you don’t mind.thanks

A note on installing the magic lever for the self-winding - it's easier to just place it in roughly the correct position on the train wheel bridge, the forks resting again in 'roughly the right position' but sitting on top and not snapped around the edge of the winding wheel. Loosely tighten the bridge down over it and rotate the winding rotor bearing manually until the cam finds the hole and it starts to 'move' the magic lever. Tighten a bit more then guide the forks to the edges of the wheel before tightening down all the way. Works for Seiko movements, no need for the oil and frustration.

Those with the Seiko NH35A movement are mostly OK. Apparently Invicta watches are all over the map when it comes to quality control. And yes. Their marketing techniques are downright dodgy, and their after sale service leaves much to be desired. Just my 2 cents.

If I screw up what did it cost me? I have a 9937ob Pro-diver with swiss sellita sw200-1 movement.. it has a thinner case than the standard pro-diver @ 12mm (including smaller "invicta" engraving), a upgraded bracelet with thicker solid links, solid end links and a milled clasp..it has their "flame-fusion" cyrstal (thin slice of synthetic sapphire fused to mineral i think) .. I paid $170 for this.. I have other watches and this sits easily with the $500 and up mob.. I love this watch tbh.. never missed a beat, held together perfectly over its time.. haven't got one complaint.. could do with a ceramic insert and sapphire crystal but @ $170 with swiss auto etc this is a absolute bargain. deffo not the normal Pro-Diver and I've brought myself a insert and crystal to upgrade it.. cant wait! lol

So far as one can tell is the only reason that you hate the Invicta brand is because they took it away from the dealer network which deprived you of some sales and some profit. Good for Invicta I say and good for the consumer. They can now enjoy owning a remarkable timepiece without the huge dealership markup. Furthermore to make your point you use the worst possible example of an Invicta. That watch is sub $100. It would have been cheaper to throw it away and buy a new one than throw good money for a watch maker to repair it. As a watchmaker myself I'd have frankly refused to repair it. Today the Invicta brand offers exceptional value for money and their homages are amongst the best I've seen. Wherever possible Invicta use Miyota and Seiko movements, which for the money offer exceptional performance. This video is morally dishonest!b

I also think the marketing strategy was actually spot on for what they were trying to accomplish, which is create mass appeal towards the lower and middle class! Being that I am a middle class person, but also someone who appreciates nice time pieces, I think Invicta is great for someone who was just starting their watch collection and didn't want to jump right into a more expensive watch brand...I definitely agree with the BS abt them ONLY making it exclusive repairs, that part sucks ass!! Invicta's product is crap. Bad movements, bad engineering, bad QC, bad service, bad dealer network. Seiko will sell you a $90 watch that's supported almost as well as a $5,000 Grand Seiko. Yeah, it'll cost you about as much to service as it cost to buy...but it's well made and if you want parts, you can get them from Saginaw to Shizuoka. Y'know what's a cheap Swiss watch with some waterproofing and a decent movement? Calvin Klein. You're better off with the blue jeans brand.

So, if I am to understand you, it's Invicta's business model and standards to their customers you hate, as well as making cheap low grade watches. I can totally understand that. It's such a beautiful craft to be lost, watchmaker that is. I've worked on vehicles for 35 years and I can see how the two are similar in nature. I find it very fascinating and interesting. One of my other hobbies is scale modeling, been doing that for nearly 40 years, I light models and so I tell people I make really cool lamps lol. But being a watch collector I've should have gotten into this years ago, but Tempest Fugit says no Time like the present! I've got two really old Elgin pocket watches, one works, and one doesn't, (my Uncle over wound it and broke the crystal and hands are a crinkle mess) and I have several odd wrists watches from Storm which I guess isn't around anymore as it's hard to find info on them. Looking forward to learning more on watchmaking.

If you want a reliable mechanical watch that's unique, buy something from a micro-brand with a Sellita, ETA, 9-series Miyota, or even a Seiko movement. For $400 - $600 you will be getting a much higher quality watch that will likely hold its value or possibly increase (if you ever want to sell it). Let us begin..First of all Invicta should have done the right thing by retailers,so that sucks. Now when it comes to MSRP, Invicta is only one of many that market watches at a high MSRPs, on sites like WatchMaxx. That means anyone only focusing on ONE company is an uninformed clown or total liar,as many companies sell gear that is NOT of good value. I have different watch brand yet my second GEn SeaHunter stays on in bed, shower and when I skate.I had a fall and the second hand came off, and they replaced the whole watch, and repaired it with no issues the second time. The thing that kills me is when folks make dumb comments about the watches yet have no facts to b back up their rants. I also think it's funny how folks can talk about watch sizes, yet they company sells them at an alarming rate, totally killing the opinions of a few. In other words, more often than not, the same folks who complain wear watches that do NOT have much volume sales, needing to charge insane prices to make up the difference. The bottom line for most is accurate time, not 'horology', which is a NICHE interest.I am heavily involved in IT, DJing, Audio, studio gear, professional photography, etc, etc, and most stuff is made in Taiwan, China,Vietnam,etc..Also,if you spending too much for Invicta or any other brand, that's only YOUR singular fault. This is the same exact issue between Behringer and several synth manufacturers...I bought Citizens and they never lasted..not one of them. They were NOT rugged and were the type you had to take off daily or not wear them while doing any sports /outdoor events....

Citizen is a top japanese watch maker. High quality time pieces. An if you wanted to wear a citizen in the shower all you had to do was a buy a 10 bar model. It started with Rockefeller and his partners' monopoly of the US currency with the 1913 federal reserve act to eliminate all their competition. They use bureaucracy and their banking(political) allies to create monopolies like Rockefeller and his father in law senator Aldrich. This happened to me with Sony in the 90s. Exclusive dealers must meet certain criteria like having so much product in stock and on display, certified techs or distance from another Sony dealer. Then they change the rules, Costco goes around the distributor in the state and buys direct, in bulk, selling for less than our cost. Most people can't look ahead 1 week, much less 10 or 20years. Fast forward 30 years and products and services are scarce and many items are only available through Amazon and not repairable, instead they are disposable Chinese junk because the banks have sucked America dry .
