Goldberg made a name for himself in WCW with his impressive win streak. The streak got a lot of fans excited for Goldberg and all he had to do was come to the ring, hit the spear and the jackhammer, and then he would head back to the locker room while the crowd continued to chant his name.
In 1998, right in the middle of the streak, WCW released a Goldberg video tape that included his most extensive interview up until that point. The video was part of the WCW / nWo Superstar Series. This video looks at that very tape.

The 5 things I learned about Goldberg through this video are 1. Goldberg dealing with people that make fun of him is sure sweet 2. He thought Konnan was a bump in the road 3. His first nationally televised match was, um, his match with Hugh Morrus, Nitro, the 22nd of September, his coming out match, was, very taxing. 4. He looks at people now as he looks at everyone else as he looks at everyone else through the process 5. He thought the flock was a bump in the road

I actually enjoyed the video. Did he say much? No, but what the hell is he supposed to say? They sit him down to do an hour long kayfabe interview about scripted wrestling matches that usually went less than 5mins each, so there wasnt much TO say. @@Ian-Omega I figured someone would point out "Shiovani". Yes, it was all incompetence, I was making a joke, but Schiavone's name being messed up was simply a case of the VHS production staff likely not being given the names of everyone featured, so they went with a phonetic spelling. Disco, though, had his name completely messed up! The staff likely heard "DIS-CO FEEEE-VER!" from his theme song & just thought that was his name. They could have called him "Disco Blaze" & it would have at least been more accurate. As Konnan once said in a jokingly dry way, "It's Disco"; don't take it so seriously.

During the wars, I was totally a WWF guy. But I watched a lot of WCW too, and anyone who says Goldberg wasn’t popular is either dreaming or intentionally lying. Goldberg was massively popular. They handled him and the streak very well. Of course, being WcW, they ruined it with the Nash/Taser incident that turned out being his first loss. I always thought that he should have kept the streak alive, and gradually have Bill get more arrogant and unappreciative of the fans. Then he does something egregious (like spearing a face) for personal gain. Then he is a heel, but not a normal heel. He doesn’t use heel tricks or have outside help or use chairs. He just becomes more brutal and dishes out unnecessary pain. Eventually, someone like Sting has to end it. Could have been great.

That's where the changes came in. 2. it was directed by Ed Leslie who made the brave choice of telling Bill to be less enthusiastic during his performance. 3. Tony's last name is actually Schiovani, but someone mispronounced it originally and Tony never corrected them. 4. I didn't realize that Goldburg set a record in his win against Wrath. Must be that was early on because Wrath has been killing it lately 5. Superbowl rings are not worth what I thought. That's a heavy price to pay to see your husband jackhammered after all.

Five things I learned from Goldberg's interview. 5. Mongo is the worst Horseman, way worse than Paul Roma. 4. Goldberg is a man of few words. 3. Goldberg doesn't like to be mocked. Edge and Christian show were hilarious when Edge whispered Gilberg's name into Christian's ear while he was sleeping to give Christian nightmares. 2. Jackhammer is the best finisher, especially on 2K games since you hit a finisher and immediately roll into a pin. 1. Without Hogan he would have been nothing.

Goldberg at his peak was something special, but in hindsight especially with this video you can just tell he never really had his heart in wrestling. I will never take away the fact that he was over like rover because I lived through that era in real time. Having said that this video is super frustrating. The guy was put on a pedestal almost from day one, paid very well, and can't even be bothered to at least pretend he's happy here. People had to pay money for this smh.

“Can’t even be bothered to at least pretend he’s happy here.” Exactly that, he sounds like a parolee doing an interview to be a warehouse worker for Amazon . The average Walmart door greeter shows more energy and enthusiasm.

Maybe he's just not comfortable with interviews? He does seem like he doesn't care, but I feel like that was his character...like he didn't normally do promos or interviews and maybe there was a reason for that. Steve Blackman didn't do promos very often because he never felt comfortable on the mic. Sometimes people just aren't talkative and really what could he have said about his matches at that time? He didn't do much of anything...I think they should have just opted out of the Goldberg video and did one on someone else...maybe from lower on the card that fans liked.

Y'all be marks! 😂 Are you seriously expecting Bill Goldberg in 1998 to pretend to be happy? It's kayfabe. That would destroy his character. Bill won't pretend to be happy because Goldberg wouldn't pretend to be happy.

I stopped watching Wrestling from around 93, then i was told about Goldberg in mid 98 and i was hooked again until WcW sold up, but watching Goldberg bring somewhat realism to WcW was something different from what i used to see watching wwf back in early 90s.

The 5 things i learned from watching this video: 1. Goldberg is not a social guy. 2. He hates interviews. 3. He always wears black. 4. Goldberg is friends with Nash outside of the ring. 5. His biggest moment was going over Hogan.

Goldberg was a huge deal for his first 2-3 years. I doubt that this tape had anything to do with it. I forgot the five things. Here they are: 1. Goldberg had a lot of bumps in the road. He should consider repaving it. 2. He wasn't great in interviews early on. 3. Konan was right. Goldberg couldn't handle losing. 4. Goldberg was afraid of the power of Gillberg. It ate away at his psyche and caused him to lose to Kevin Nash. The tazer had nothing to do with it. 5. Goldberg wished he had a Super Bowl ring like Steve McMichael

Goldberg had the look, the ring theatrics, but 0 personality. Just look at the difference between GB's interview segments and Hogan's. I don't care what people wanna say nowadays. Hogan was the complete package. In just a 1 minute interview, Hulk showed up nearly everyone else on this tape. I did like what he said about the fans in that one segment, though. I bet that meant something to a lot of people watching this tape back in the day.
