I definitely noticed how they’d show Penelope each time Lady Whistledown would start her monologue but it wasn’t confirmed for me until episode 6. But I love how accurate you are when you dissect the shows since you don’t watch them all the way through, but at the same time you ask questions which are answered in the episodes you skip

I'm glad you enjoyed this haha. Just to provide some context on some of the comments you made: The reason Daphne was turned on by the arms is because noble women aren't supposed to ever see a man except their husband without full shirts and waistcoats on, so she has never seen a man who wasn't her brothers like that before (ignoring the boxers, she wasn't supposed to be at a boxing match either) Especially not one she was interested in. The dance cards were a thing at all the balls. Each lady was given one which had an empty space on it for every single dance that was going to be played throughout the night. Aka the opening Waltz, supper Waltz, different quadrilles, etc. And gentlemen would reserve a specific dance with a lady by writing their name on the card, then coming to collect her when that dance started. I hope that makes sense ^^

As someone who hadn’t read the books. I was able to see that lady whistle down was Penelope. First I was like it’s either one of the featheringtons or one the bridgertons because most of scoop was about them. Because the family’s are so close it just made sense to me. I had a hunch it’s was Penelope then. In a later episode when the news breaks about Colin and Mariana that’s when I knew for sure it was her.

I know you've said musicals aren't your thing, so I won't try too hard to sell you on its overall awesomeness. A dance card was literally a numbered list that ladies would hang on their wrists (like they show here). Gentlemen would ask permission to add their name to the list, and the lady could accept or decline. They were then committed to perform each dance in order with the men in their card. It was a helpful way for people to circulate and meet many potential matches in one night, and it also meant that (if the guy was awful) she had an excuse to move into someone else for the next dance. It was kind off a mix between speed dating and keeping a list of potential matches in Tinder. Try each person out for a brief moment, move on, and then maybe come back to someone later if you're both into one another.

Think about how legally if a man takes off a condom when having intercourse without the woman knowing, it’s rape. It’s the same thing. And I could be wrong but I think some of the writers and the actress mentioned that the scene was a “moment of empowerment” and that the writers said it was important for their development. My thing is, they could’ve at least addressed it properly instead of victims blaming.
