My dad used to be religious and believe in an afterlife, then he flatlined from his second heart attack. He was dead for a good moment, but was thankfully revived. He now tells whoever will listen "They always talk about there being a bright light, but there was nothing." Since then, he's become such a kinder person and is more focused on living a good life now than earning points towards some afterlife.
