Why am I just now realizing that Lucinda literally told Ella to get rid of the curse herself? And Ella technically obeyed.🤯

Omg you’re a genius, I never thought of that… (this sounds sarcastic sarcastic now that I’m reading it, but I’m genuinely shocked)

If this is sarcasm or not, I recall Lucinda saying it as like a question and also it’s a face that Ella got rid of it herself by telling herself in the mirror

Fun fact: Lucy Punch, aka Hattie, also played the stepsister in 2000's Cinderella, Into the Woods, and the Cinderella episode of Fairy Tales. Even better, it's actually not typecasting. When she was a little girl, when everyone else wanted a princess party, she asked for an ugly stepsister party. This is literally a dream come true for her.

@amyt20353 ай бұрын
Ella Enchanted is a re-imagining of the Cinderella story which is why you saw all the similarities - it's intentional. The name Ella is a short form of Cinderella, Lucinda was the fairy godmother giving her a magical dress for the ball, and the spell was broken at midnight (in Cinderella it was her dress and carriage spell but here it was the obedience spell). There was also of course the mother dying and the evil step-mother and sisters, there was even a reference to the glass slippers which the step-sisters made Ella steal at the market.

The villain was a mix of Scar and Jafar. He killed his brother like Scar and got his power that way, and was very power-hungry and had a snake theme like Jafar.

Great reaction! Interesting thing, the main villain of the movie (Sir Edgar) doesn’t exist in the book. Ella only goes against her stepmother/stepsisters and her curse which does much worse things to her. She goes on a similar journey as the movie, but the entire second act is different in the novel.

Haha, great reaction. You can just FEEL Nick's frustration at Ella's predicament. His face when Slannen moved his neck. How much he hated Hattie. How dark it got at the climax. Seriously, what a fun reaction 😂 Yeah, this is an amazing movie. Never get tired of it. How come you're surprised at how well Anne Hathaway can sing? Don't you remember Rio? 😜

I grew up with this movie and I still love it to bits ❤ What I think they should’ve done is to show more interaction between Areida and Ella. That they never said another word to eachother after that day and that she just shows up in the end, it just feels unfinished. This seems to be the extended version which i’ve never seen before. I was wondering why the music was gone in some parts 😂

Wait, what version of the film is it that you’re watching? O_o There’s dialogue in the clips you’re showing that are not in the DVD version I have of the film, like right before Lucinda arrives to give baby Ella her gift, the king saying to keep an eye on Char after he left the carriage in their first scene together, Hattie and Olive chatting together in the market before Ella shows up, etc. I think I recognize them from the deleted scenes on the DVD though?

Well, this had to be a fairytale. In the book, it's more pronounced, because Char holds several balls and Lucinda is the one that creates a carriage from magic. I know she's not Ella's fairy godmother, but Mandy wouldn't do anything that she thought was "big magic". And the reason Ella was the only girl who fit the shoe was because she had a little fairy blood, which caused her to have tiny feet. But Ella breaks the curse on her own without any evil uncle or order to get rid of it. The order is from Char to marry him. Ella resists long enough to say no because of her curse, and because she does, she breaks it and tells him she can marry him after all. As it is, Lucinda learned the error of her ways earlier in the book by living as a squirrel and then as an obedient child and realizing how horrible both fates were. But because it was big magic to give Ella the curse, it was big magic to take it back and she wouldn't do it, even though she cried even harder than Ella when Ella herself begged her.

This is my first time watching this as well and the Shrek vibes here are insane!! It's such a classic fairytale story, but there's so much funny and clever modern-day culture thrown in. Also, I'm with you on being mad at the stepsisters; honestly, you were probably even more mad than me, which is saying a lot since you're usually slow to anger. Not criticizing you for it, just saying I noticed it. Also, little side note, if you're thinking about starting a new cartoon in the near future, I highly recommend Bluey!! I don't know if you've heard of it or not, but I'm sure it would be right up your alley!!
