Seth Varnadore takes a look back at the Florida Gators passing game from the 2022 season. There were a lot of NFL concepts and familiar designs in the playbook. Seth shows some examples of Florida and Anthony Richardson running the same concepts as the best offenses in football.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by quick game? What is it's purpose philosophically (attack blitzes/numbers?)? When and why to run it?

@thegatornationfootballpodcast I don't have an issue with the passing concepts. I do have an issue with timing AND execution.

When all you run is flood route concepts than the defense knows how to cover it. I mean there’s a reason why every offenses has adopted the spread concepts. We’re not in 1995. You constantly put all our receivers into half a field and say “get open”. It could work every now and then.

We don’t just run flood …. Concepts if you really watching the games and also we gotta call a spade a spade Richardson misses the easy reads😏😏

@@callmequise4889 if he could hit the easy throws or was even remotely consistent I think the offense would be potent not deadly but potent, especially with our run game!

@@callmequise4889 well obviously. But that’s our base offense.

I do not know if cherry picking the infrequent positive pass play is the best means to demonstrate an accurate conclusion of what went on most of the season. The more spread-out formations were more the exception than the rule. In addition, some of the comparisons to the plays used in the NFL are not apt. For instance, when UF runs pass plays bunched up with only 2 WRs, an example of the Chiefs with a similar formation, but 3 WRs away from the bunch is not the same. And the complaints with the passing game Seth wase referring to (it's from Gator Nation Football Podcast, let's be honest), did not deal with the infrequent pass plays highlighted in the video, but with Napier's tendency to run out of a bunch formation that only allows a limited number of options. However, GNFP stated a caveat that perhaps the offense was limited by the players available and that it will open up in the future.

I don’t think it’s limited by players but he’s napier is limiting his personnel. Why have them out there if you won’t use them. The bunch formations and using dummy routes is weird and by the numbers you don’t have any leverage. If he can run a lot more levels and mesh while spreaded it will open up the field and give your receivers to move. Use the bunch too much. He’s restricting the routes and congesting the passing lanes. We had other issues in the passing game like our QB but to blame on receivers can’t open that’s not it and you have scheme your player open. I’m not fan of this type of offense but that’s just me. Some ppl may love what napier is doing
