Hey everyone! I just wanted to put it out there. I was making a joke as I do on all of my videos. if you notice, I was smiling when I was joking saying "Not ross being slightly homophobic right now." It was a just a joke it isn't that serious. At the end of the day, this is a TV SHOW. It isn't real life. I am sorry if that joke offended anyone but that was not my intention. Swap Susan with some random other man and Ross' feelings about literally being cheating on would be and should be the same. Like Ross said, if she was marrying another man, no one would expect him to go. It's not immediately homophobia because Ross doesn't like the person his ex-wife cheated on him with, left him for, and ended up getting married to. Not to mention how they both treated him when it came to Ben. C'mon now.

I am baffled by these comments on this video. So you are upset they thought one of the comedy bits was not that funny? I’m not sure if people realize, in a sitcom like Friends with over 200 episodes, there might be moments that you don’t think are funny. Nick and Cody have laughed so much at this show and most of the jokes, it’s completely fine and also realistic not every comedy bit will land. Feel like I would be a little insane to expect people to like every single thing in a show. And as for their reasoning at the end, it makes sense that someone like Nick who loves emotional moments would have wanted their to be more of an emphasis on the serious plotline. And when the comedy storyline ruins some of those impactful moments it can make the serious moments less special.

Ross is not a homophobe. People tend to skew that. He just really hates the woman that took his wife from him. She literally cheated on him when they were together. Why wouldn’t he not wanna go to the wedding. The only reason he stayed in contact after the divorce was cause of Ben anyway. He even says himself even if she were with a man he wouldnt wanna go to the wedding. He isn’t homophobic. He just doesnt like Susan. I had a whole other comment typed out as I was listening to your guy's wrap up about Phoebe's B-storyline subplot playing host to her late client's spirit. Usually my comedic tastes fall squarely in the grounded in reality content. Phoebe is the exception to the rule not only because that's the character, but really just what Liza Kudrow does with out there material and what it's capable of and places she can take in when put in her endless well of comedic possibilities. But, then dude said something absolutely spot-on and accurate that stopped me in my tracks. The point made about how you were willing to go on that flight of fancy farcical journey with Phoebe in any other circumstance, but given the tone and seriousness of storyline A, something that whimsical and theatre of the absurd was a misplaced mismatch of tones. If someone makes a compelling argument, I will immediately concede. And you made a completely 100 percent valid point. That's the funny thing about comedy. Sometimes the wild tonial swing of two diametrically opposed styles of tone and feeling can complement one another and serve to be much needed comedic relief to a somber sequence. Sometimes they just repel off of one another and's just a misguided attempt at contrast and offbeat balance. The amazing thing is how often Friends does get the balance just perfectly week to week, episode to episode, juggling multiple storylines amongst an ensemble cast of six leads and make it just sing not only for a season, but the duration of its entire decade long run without jumping the shark. Oh, Spoiler. Friends never jumps the shark. But, thanks for pointing out a well thought out explanation for why Phoebe's spiritual possession subplot wasn't necessarily a bad idea or even poorly executed humorous bit; it just would've been better suited in a more consistently even-keeled episode to match the other storylines light-heartedness.

I see a lot of people defending Ross about the "homophobic" thing. And while I also believe that he isn't homophobic, you can't deny that some of the jokes in the show are... not exactly fully accepting of homosexuals. I mean, in one episode were it's revealed that all of Chandler's friends thought he was gay, when they first met him, they don't say the word "gay" like it's something uncomfortable. Also the running gag of people thinking Chandler is gay, has not aged well. At the end it's an old sitcom and a product of its time, so you can't fully judge it by today standards.

Sorry for the late reaction. But doesn't that replicate real life just fine? There are still people who get uncomfortable with the word "gay". I agree on the part that not every joke has aged like wine, but come one. I don't want a relationship, so I've definitely had people who thought I was gay including actual gay people (granted it doesn't help that I have a decent amount of gay/lesbian friends). You don't see me getting mad because they assumed I'm gay. Also some of my gay friends and their friends also feel (unconsciously) uncomfortable with the word straight in a positive context, instead they might say "oh, so your not gay friend is coming over". Personally I like to judge people based on their actions, not every little thing that comes out of their mouth. Same goes for characters in a tv show.

Like how he immediately disliked and mistrusted bobby even though the character was on screen for like 20 seconds and was actually a good guy, or how much he dug at phoebe for the possession bit even though it was just a silly joke and not the focal point of the episode. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I do actually think Ross is being homophobic. Not severely or anything, but throughout the whole show he makes jokes at their expense, and treats Susan and Carols relationship as somehow being "lesser" than a straight relationship. People keep on saying "If Susan was a man this wouldn't even be an argument and Ross has every right to be mad", but even if Susan was a dude I think this is shitty behavior from Ross. He should be over Carol, hell, the whole show is about his and Rachels will-they-won't-they. Yet he is mad that his ex-wife is in a happy relationship with someone else, and I feel like Ross should get over himself for the sake of his kid. I'm not saying Carol and Susan are totally blameless in all of this, but since we see a lot less of them and they at least try to be cordial, I tend to get tired of Ross so easily. If Susan was Carols new husband I'd still hate that Ross doesn't acknowledge them as a step-parent, and that he is constantly putting down their relationship. Again, I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I hope we can be polite in the comments. That being said I really liked that Ross gets to be the one who cheers up Carol and convinces her to marry Susan again. I wish we got more scenes like those. Also, I don't get why you guys hated Phoebes storyline so much, I thought it was fine, lol.
