I remember the first time I had sleep paralysis. I was about 14 or 15 years old, living with my parents but I had the whole upper floor for myself (two bedrooms/living rooms and a bathroom) so that alone could be creepy sometimes. One night I was waking up, laying on my back like you said. When I tried to reach for my phone to see what time it was, I realized that all I could move was my eyes. The feeling itself was terrifying enough but when my eyes gazed towards the door, I saw this huge black creature just standing there staring at me. My heart felt like it would explode now and it was pure dread. This all happened in the matter of a second before I could move my body again and realized I was looking at my jacket, that I had hung over the partially opened door. This was the most intense, inexpressible fear I have ever had in my life to that point. Nice memories 😊😂

@crm7nАй бұрын
i had intense sleep paralysis up until i was a teen. greg saying "just sleep on your back" gave me crazy flashbacks to being six and thinking the same, just to get it while on my side (': i could hear and feel the ground rumbling as if something huge, like a stampede, was running towards me and i couldn't turn around to look. last time i got it was during the pandemic though, and i started sleeping on my back again. can't imagine seeing a sleep paralysis demon. mine always just felt like drowning in a sea of black; nothing could be seen or heard, like a void in space, but i'd be drowning and getting pulled down
@bethanywallace727Ай бұрын
Uuuuhhhh… as a frequent sleep paralysis sufferer I say it’s worse when you’re on your stomach and the best when you’re on your back. Cuz when your back is exposed (laying on your side even) your fight or flight kicks into over drive because you can’t move to see what’s behind you and it feels like something is touching you and you can’t see it and it’s so much worse not being able to see what’s behind you. Unfortunately I am a stomach sleeper so it sucks donkey
@itsgonnabeanaurfrommeАй бұрын
At least when you're on your back you don't need to look at it?
@laer.393Ай бұрын
i can never stomach sleep bc it just feels like i’m suffocating when i get sleep paralysis. my guess is that you need less oxygen when you’re asleep, so your breathing rate is less strong or something. so when u get sleep paralysis and your body still thinks it’s asleep, it just feels like your body cant breath in “hard” enough, idk it feels like suffocating to me though. and it’s always worse if i get it while sleeping on my tummy bc it just feels like i’m getting smothered or something. at least when i sleep on my back and i get SP, i can almost get myself to relax and come out of it quicker bc i’m able to logically process that i’m literally face up, nothing is smothering me and if i just relax i’ll come out of SP and be able to breath properly😭 idk man sleep paralysis is scary.
@krisdiane26 күн бұрын
I don't want to see anything. I wear a sleep mask, and I make absolutely certain I can't see at all. If I saw something I'd die. 😂 But, yeah, I have it on my side too. It just feels different - like I'm being pulled backward.

@koryhawkins1499Ай бұрын
It is and you can see this by the reflection of the mirror. The reflection of the lady is not the same lady in the chair. It is obviously another person off Camera in the right spot for this photo.
@zoombeanieАй бұрын
15:25 I have a potential explanation for this! She could've taken this picture using something called a rolling camera/rolling shutter, which is a style of photo capture that captures one strip of the scene at a time rather than the whole picture at once. The best thing I could compare it to is that tiktok filter with the blue line that scans across the screen, or taking a panoramic on your phone. It only processes one section at a time. So basically she could've been facing a mirror and then turned her head around before the camera captured that section of the photo. It actually used to be a common trick to take scary photos like that! EDIT: Sorry meant rolling not rotary, fixed that!
@Void_950Ай бұрын
but the photo is really old
@zoombeanieАй бұрын
@Void_950 yeah rolling shutters have been around for a long time :) sorry, I should've added that. Plenty of digital cameras from the 2000's had rolling shutters! (Which I think is when that picture was taken. Rolling digital cameras go all the way back to the 70's though I think) I believe that even some modern phone cameras are rolling shutters too but are much more efficient so there's no effect! I may be wrong on that one though don't quote me on it
@CrystalBall-.-Ай бұрын
15:00 Interesting fact, that’s perfectly normal for old photos that used to capture images when they shutter from side to side. Think of that Tik Tok filter where it slowly scans from side to side. While the process is a lot faster, it’s possible for her to turn around quick enough to be captured by the camera in the mirror and out!

OMG I have to share this because I just remembered it after watching the shadow the kid saw. You know when you drift off to sleep, and you get woken up with a jolt from dreaming about a fall or something? I used to have that, but instead I would hear a loud scream in one ear as if someone was actually next to me, and I would wake up so scared with my heart racing. It used to happen often, and hasn't in a long time, but I used to try to replicate the sound in my mind, and it never felt close enough to how realistic it really sounded.

I'm pretty sure I was someone's ghost once lol. I used to hike alone in the woods at night when I was 16ish, and one of the spots I liked was already occupied one night, so I kinda just stood just outsidd the edge of the light from the fire and looked at them annoyed for 30 seconds or so. I wore all black, and got somewhat illuminated when the fire got a bit stronger, so that probably looked like a reddish face floating in the air in the total darkness just outside the light's edge for them. Pretty sure they noticed me too, so I just turned around and left. The moral of the story? I might still be here to tell this story only because people in my country don't usually have guns.

Seeing the shadow person one reminded me of something my younger sister (who is in her early 20’s) told me recently. She was sleeping in my old bedroom at our parents house for a couple months, and she said that quite a few times, she felt like there was a dark presence in the room, sometimes by the window (which had a window well) or the closet. This freaked me out, because I had that room for years, but I didn’t get that sensation. Super freaky. And when you mentioned the catacombs, it reminded me of my other sister who went to Scotland earlier this year with her husband and one of their friends named David. They were doing a haunted vaults tour, and at one point the tour guide was telling the story of the ghost of a woman who was known to grab people’s legs. The group of people were standing fairly close together, and right at that moment, David shifted a little to get a better view and the closed umbrella he was holding unknowingly brushed my sister’s leg. She jumped and let out a short scream, and the whole group turned to look, and when she said what happened, everyone got a good laugh.
