To be fair, Emily really was heartbroken for Lorelai too. You could tell she was looking forward to telling everyone, “My daughter and her brilliant Chef Sookie created what we’re enjoying today.” It was a bold transition for both Richard and Lorelai before their businesses could take off that Emily could be proud to help be successful. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Also, this was the episode Rory started floundering hard and it showed.

Agreed. Two things can be true at the same time. I think _maybe_ T.A.G's dislike of Emily is getting in the way of his being able to recognize any nuance when it comes to her. 🤣 Understandable, but that's definitely a drawback to watching each episode in a vacuum, lol

She was definitely sad about both. We know Emily LOVED Sookie's cooking and she was proud of Lorelei's work, she was looking forward to hiring them. And it wasn't the first time, she had events for her organization at the independence inn and later at the dragonfly

To be fair to Emily throwing parties and arranging events for her husband is what she's been told is her role her entire life. She bases her entire worth on being a good wife. If she's not needed for those sort of things she has no purpose and sees no value in herself. It runs a bit deeper than just being upset that they don't want a party.

Rory’s study tree is iconic idc what anyone says lol it’s so funny and so in character of her. I honestly consider it her funniest moment in the series, aside from the episode where she gets hit by a deer and has a breakdown in Medina’s classroom because she didn’t want to miss taking the test and ends up lashing out on Paris and Tristan! 😂❤️

I WAS LITERALLY JUST THINKING THE OTHER DAY "hey he hasn't uploaded a new gilmore girls video in a hot second", so this is exciting. it's one of my more favorite episodes because it has the rare good writing re: emily and lorelai. i really wish they could have pushed her development from season one onwards but alas.

5 classes per semester was pretty normal. I took 6 one semester & it was fine. Our classes were 3 hours usually but some were longer (my Statistics class had a computer component so it was 4 hours). I still had time to study & lots of time for friends etc I heard some US colleges like Yale have classes that can run between 1-2 hours. If you’re working consistently then that might be harder to manage your time. I don’t get Rory’s dilemma with finding a study space though. College libraries have a ton of nooks & spaces. And there’s multiple libraries (and the city library too)…tons of seating & study spaces all over campuses . Or as you said, go to Burger King… What’s Rory going to do with her study tree in the middle of winter? lol
