In defense of Lady Featherington, it's not that she's heartless. Marina appeared in her household without her permission, and she was pregnant, which at the time meant that her reputation was destroyed automatically because she was unmarried. In addition, the entire household's reputation (including Lady F herself, and all three of her daughters) would be destroyed. Upper class women could have no career or income of their own, so they needed to marry well just to have enough money to eat and have a house. No rep = no good marriage. So Marina put all of their futures in danger just by being there, and then refused to fix the problem by getting married to Sir Philip.

The whole build up of Simon and daphnes relationship was that Simon didnt want to have kids so always pulled out🫣 his vow to his father was to let his family title die with him. Anthony didn’t marry Sienna due to their different social statuses. And the focusing on the bee at the end was a teaser for season 2. PLEASE do a first and last episode of season 2 it’s even better than s1 in my opinion!!

Season 1 is so good, season 2 is pure perfection that'll have you on the edge of your seat and the spin off 'Queen Charlotte' is such a beautiful story which make you tear up. The corset scene is highly inaccurate. Corsets, when made and fitted properly, are actually super comfortable and give a lot of support. Also, tight lacing wasn't a thing until the late 1800s and was only done by the super wealthy. The working class corsets were even more flexible and comfortable.

a downward spiral for daphne would have at least made her an interesting character. seriously she spends the whole season looking smug and perfect at everything and THEN gets away with committing rape on the husband that she famously "cannot sacrifice" and then gets everything she ever wanted as a reward. I wasn't going to watch s2 but then found out it focuses on each sibling per season and trust me Anthony meeting and falling for Kate is a breath of fresh air compared to the car crash that is Simon and Daphnes relationship. Only downside of s2 is Daphne continuing to turn up looking smug and acting all experience at relationships

You’re literally the only person who seems to understand what Daphne did to Simon, and her justification in everyone else’s eyes and immediately telling Simon he must have been in the wrong is what makes me hate her character so much. She got ZERO punishment for what she did, only riches and status and the kids she forced and persuaded her husband into having. I prefer Anthony’s season a hundred times more, I just really love the aesthetic of the first (wasted on Daphne’s season, imo). Kate was amazing, and a real lady who *should* be smug! Tl;dr: I agree. 😂😭

@@happydaze7976Heres what the showrunner said in an interview: "with our show, we strive to honor the history, but we’re not beholden to the history. At the end of the day, the show is for a modern audience. There’s a modernity to everything we’re doing, from the themes to the characters to the stories we’re telling……” Can't believe I'm still having to explain this but heregoes: rape was still a heinous act back then even if marital rape was legal until the 20th century. Daphnes arc is supposed to be her learning empowerment and becoming educated on relationships and sex (according to the showrunners and the actress herself) but when she learns what becoming pregnant involves, she chooses to rape Simon and potentially force Fatherhood on him instead of confronting him verbally with the handkerchief full of his sperm as evidence. She's a vile character but I'm not surprised you haven't seen it yet as the show does everything to convince us she is justified in raping Simon.

They try to blame Simon for lying as if being forced to impregnate someone is a suitable punishment for that??? The whole thing is a car crash and I'm embarrassed to say I fell for it at first, the way they frame it 🤮 you're so right about Anthony and Kate, plus Kate actually helps Anthony through his trauma in the bee scene! It's such a breath of fresh air that I can't believe this couple actually belong to the same show

Edit: Even SHE understood that Lord Berbrooke was trying to take advantage of her in the show, and she decided raping her husband despite him pleading with her to stop (show) was the right course of action.

If you do first and last of Gossip Girl, I think you'd probably get a better reaction doing the first and last episode of each season rather than the first and last of the whole show. Similarly to PLL, by the end the show is basically an entirely different entity so it's more fulfilling and easier on your part to guess what'll happen at the end of a season
