“hell is a teenage girl” is a famous quote for a reason. teenage girls are pretty much unhinged, so everything you saw in this movie is well within their capabilities. you weren’t wrong thinking “this isn’t normal, you’re overreacting, you’re a bad person”, but teenagers run on emotions and intrusive thoughts (+ a sprinkle of support), so most of the time…they don’t really think about the consequences. i’ve stalked my crush to take the same path as him and make it seem like it was a coincidence; i forced myself to listen to bands like muse & green day and watched gory anime to appear “cooler” when in reality i liked slice-of-life stuff and preferred indie & pop music; a friend of mine PRETENDED TO BE HER MUM and texted her crush to ask what his “intentions with her daughter” were and the rest of us sat around giggling about it; so many girls in my grade hated this one girl i had known since primary school because she was friends with all the guys, she was genuinely super nice but she was also insanely pretty, physically matured quicker than the rest, and played basketball, so naturally guys gravitated towards her but it wasn’t her fault, she barely had any female friends 😭

I would purposefully try and walk down certain hallways so that I would walk past my crush, because I believed he would notice me everyday. But I would try to look away, because I didn't want to seem like I liked him walking past me. Teenage brains make so sense.

Wow, I just had a blast reminiscing about some of the wildest British kids' TV shows from my childhood! It's incredible how these shows shaped our imaginations and often left us wondering what just happened! First up, how can we forget "Teletubbies"? I mean, who’d have thought that a show featuring colorful, giant baby-like creatures living in a strange land with a literal baby sun would capture the hearts of millions? The surreal, dreamlike quality of it all was both enchanting and utterly bizarre. The Tubbies' nonsensical language and whimsical adventures made it feel like you were in a trippy daydream! Then there's "Blue Peter," which started off as a classic kids' show but became known for its insane challenges and experiments. I still can’t wrap my head around how they managed to make a rocket out of household items or adopt a tiger cub-seriously, where else would you see kids learning about life sciences while also becoming amateur DIY experts? And let’s talk about "Pingu." This stop-motion animated penguin with no real dialogue but enormous charm! The way Pingu communicated through his adorable language made it universally relatable, and the antics he got up to in the Antarctic were hilariously absurd. Watching Pingu navigating challenges while maintaining his mischievous nature was such a joy. How could I forget "Mr. Blobby"? The loveable pink polka-dotted character who basically defied all normality. His unpredictable antics and chaotic personality left a mark on British pop culture; no one could ever predict what kind of hilarious disaster he'd cause next! He was the embodiment of pure chaos in a world that, at times, felt a bit too structured. Then there was "The Magic Roundabout," which was brilliant at breaking the traditional bounds of storytelling. With its trippy characters and surreal plotlines, it felt like a psychedelic experience intended for kids. The characters could talk to each other in such a whimsical way that made everything feel more like an adventure in an enchanted dream rather than a linear story. Another gem was "Shaun the Sheep." The smart humor and clever storytelling captivated both children and adults alike. Who would have thought watching a sheep outsmart a farmer and find escapades in his farmyard could be so entertaining? Lastly, let’s not overlook "The Gruffalo," which brought a beloved book to life with beautifully animated characters and catchy songs. It was magical watching the clever little mouse trick the other woodland creatures and ultimately encounter the fearsome Gruffalo. In summary, British kids’ TV shows have this uncanny ability to combine absurdity, creativity, and educational elements all at once! They’ve made us laugh, think, and dream in ways we never expected. I truly believe these shows deserve recognition for not just entertaining us but also for pushing the boundaries of what children’s television can be. What was your favorite insane show from your childhood? Let’s keep this nostalgia train rolling!
@lemsip207Ай бұрын
Blue Peter was one of the better programmes, though, and they often warned viewers not to try some things at home. I wish Fred Roger's Neighbourhood had been on UK TV as well as US TV. I saw the film A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood in 2020 and saw what I had missed on TV in the 1960s. The aim of it was to show children how to navigate everyday life, and the model neighbourhood and his puppet characters were used to emulate the neighbourhoods of the viewers and the people who lived in it. It was also to teach values. He got into television as he didn't like what was being offered to children at the time, such as custard pie fights. He wanted it to be more serious and realistic, not fantasy, slapstick, and punching down comedy.

I want to see this movie again. I was obsessed with the books. They are wild. I was delighted to see this movie was played with normal teenagers...made it so much more relatable.
