I've just got to say that morticians who can do quality makeup are essential. The funeral home handling my mom severely fucked up her makeup, and the fact that that is the last image I have in my brain of her royally pisses me off. So a part of me understands Shirley's determination to take care of Nell herself.

Keep an eye out in the background. There's dozens of hidden ghosts that upon rewatching will give you CHILLS bc you don't notice them at first!! Like that scene of the dad telling steve to close his eyes as he carries him, as they're waiting to open the door, there's a man standing in the background the entire time.
@david-jonballinger66382 жыл бұрын
Don't spoil it :p
@alexism31422 жыл бұрын
Don't tell him that, otherwise he's gonna focus more on the background than what's actually going on in the scene. I'm sure he'll notice the ghosts while editing! Besides, the hidden ghosts are irrelevant to the plot or the understanding of the episodes, so there's no need for him to look for them
@Quotenwagnerianer2 жыл бұрын
The entire point about the background ghost is to NOT consciously keeping an eye out for them. They are there so that your subconscious notices them and you think something is off, without knowing what it is.

I have more sympathy for Stephen than Shirley. Stephen's anger and annoying traits come from his fear or loosing all his family members from mental illness. Shirley is just a hypocrite. LOL

I think one of the most beautiful things about the show is that each of the children’s perspectives represent a stage of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance). And because each of the first episodes is centered on one of the children, we are given enough information to be able to understand their perspective, even if we wouldn’t do things the way they do. You have enough empathy to care about and understand each of their perspectives and realize that ultimately, none of them are really wrong. It just takes them different amounts of time to work through and accept.
@EditFlowzA2 ай бұрын
i have empathy too but don't tell me as a big brother he has no responsibility to look after his little sister who is constantly suffering and even suffering worse. He had a lot of shortcomings and most of the times due to his own ignorance.

I'm so excited that you are watching this series! Mike Flanagan has some AMAZING stories to tell (this one, Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass are amazing) they are scary but I bet you're going to love them! Also, just so you keep in mind: this series talks a lot about how ghosts can be memories and/or decisions you regret (that and vengeful spirits of dead people) so some things in the series can seem like they could be demonic/ghostly entities or just something hunting them in the emotionally or mentally sense.

Unpopular opinion, but I love Steven. As the older sibling in my family, I relate to him so much hahah I'm SO excited for you to experience Hil House! I've rewatched this 5 times, and I always find something new, plus it's a comfort show for me at this point lmao, weird, I know, but the story has so many intricacies and has such a psychological approach to it with family trauma and bonds and it's just..... *chefs kiss* in every single way. Can't wait to watch the rest of your reactions!
@katara20212 жыл бұрын
I love Steven too. People like to forgive trauma response that seems tragic and pitiful like with nell but god forbid anyone becomes controlling or snappish. No sympathy for them even though they too were mentally impacted. It is not healthy and they should try to work on it but it is a genuine response to their fucked up childhood. Anyway he was the one other than his dad who had to watch his mother slowly unravel.
@DeathsjesterKMNP2 жыл бұрын
The problem is that so many people are snap-judgement types, they decide in 5 minutes they dont like someone, and after that dont pay attention to anything about them, just automatically assume the worst in every situation, and best yet when something happens that they cant ignore to contradict their assumptions, they double down on their internal narrative because they cant admit they might have been wrong. All that is not to say Steve is a saint in any way, he has a lot of dickish behavior and attitude, but most of it has a good reason, but haters aren't gonna notice it, they'll just keep acting like he's a total asshole.
