What I liked about Lara Jean's note at the end with her simple explanation of liking him and "not in a fake way" was that her feelings were not overdramatized like she has been doing her whole life. She accepted the reality of her situation that she liked him for him and not what she made up in her head or read in her books. She liked him in a real way.

Possible because in the novel she does write him a full out letter to win him back, so the change was intentional and this was a good way for the film to show her character growth. In the novel, you are in her head for 300 some odd pages so you know and see how much she grows from start to finish but unless she just narrates her inner monologue the entire film the movie needed a scene that shows growth which this change does really well.

This is was fun but I think Dylan missed out that they are high school kids so something's are a bigger deal for them like going all the way to get something particularly for someone, being Instagram official. Also the part with Lara Jean telling she likes Peter. I think she did write something grandiose but in the moment she finally comes out of this flower fairy tale-esque romance in her head and tells him simply what she feels. Like owning up to her feelings.
