"I need a break and I need a tissue" is my first sentence after watching this movie, so clearly, you can imagine the emotions I had during it. I didn't know much about this movie : two teenagers exchanging bodies, surely a romantic situation, and at some point, I will discover what the music I listened to for entire months is related to. So when the movie began, I was a little surprised by having different situations and clearly a chronology mixed, but I was still going with "okay, I'm watching a romantic comedy movie."
Until the reveal. Until we discover during the movie that in fact our girl died three years ago. And really, I immediately felt so sad, that I couldn't keep my tears for myself and I had no hope at all of a good end. It's really just when Taki manages to come back in her body that I saw maybe a tiny percentage of chance for all of them to survive. It was stressful and for me, really intense for my emotions. But I was so relieved that they succeeded that I was truly thinking "it's okay if these two never meet, they had an amazing journey together, it's still a beautiful story like that". My face when it's finally happening testifies that, in my heart, I still needed for them to meet.

Just watched this wonderful movie yesterday, and honestly I'm still thinking about it! This movie just makes you feel things that you didn't even know you could feel. Watching your reaction was a great way to relive this feeling, and helped me "digest" this whole lot of feelings that you get from this movie! Your comments at the end were great to hear to, and I completely relate to the feeling of hopeleness that you get after knowing that Mitsuha died 3 years ago from the meteor, since I also thought that now the movie would only have a sad ending... Only when they started to show the town get destroyed, but no one dying, that I started to think "oh, maybe it really worked!". Kimi no Na wa is such a beautiful movie about love, and how the mind might forget about what happened in the past, but the heart never does! It's a shame that your version of the movie didn't translate the message that Taki wrote on Mitsuha's hand, but that scene is one of the most beautiful, since you can see that for Taki, what was more important was to let Mitsuha know that she was loved, because that feeling would prevail with the passage of time, while the writing of the name wouldn't!

It happened to me first time I watched with Friends (Netflix version long time ago) and I knew some words and hiragana and understood what happen. Then I start trading up and nobody else understood why Iwas crying. Then I paused they movie and explained what happened but it's not they same

​@@FranciscoBarrazas Yea, I'm unsure about this. If she were writing her full name in kanji (surname then given name), the first stroke would definitely be different. It seems more likely she'd just write in kana like she did near the start of the movie (especially if you're writing on someone's hand and trying to make it clear and avoid ambiguity). Plus, when Taki is trying to recall the name Mitsuha it looks like he's trying to recall the first hiragana of her name "み", forgetting right at the first notch. Though to be fair, I looked back at the earlier scene where Mitsuha writes her name in hiragana and she doesn't accentuate the leading notch there, so the theory makes a bit more sense assuming she uses consistent handwriting. Either way, it's not clear one way or another.

Good news in the Anime Weathering with you Taki and Mitsuha make a cameo. In that Anime it is about 1 or two years after Taku and Mitsuha met on the stairs. They are married now in that anime they visited Mitsuha's grandmother and there was pictures of Taki and Mitsuha's wedding. 😊

Thank you for a wonderful reaction! I always start tearing up when Taki watches Mitsuha's life story, that is such a wonderful artistic vision. Then when they meet on the mountain the waterworks turn on full blast. Makoto Shinkai's next two animes, _Weathering with You_ and _Suzume_ are almost as good and have some of the same feels as this one. Would love it if you would react to one or both.

C'est un superbe anime. Tu en as d'autres a voir de ce niveau ... Spécialement "Silent Voice", "I want to eat your pancreas", "Arrietty et le petit monde des chapardeurs" et "le tombeau des lucioles" mais avec plein de mouchoir pour ce dernier. Sinon tu as "Fireworks", 'Susume", "Origine", "Eve no jikan", "Laputa", "Patema inverted", "Le château dans le ciel" et "Le roi des ronces" qui sont vraiment très beau aussi. Sinon en anime bien de chez nous ... "Les maitres du temps". Avec tout cela tu as déjà ce qu'il faut pour étoffer ton contenu "anime". J'oubliais .. a voir aussi "Porco rosso" dont le doublage du héros est fait par Jean Reno en VF. Seul bémol a travailler selon moi, c'est l'accent. Regardant des vidéos en langue de Shakespeare depuis longtemps, l'anglais avec un accent français très prononcé, ça pique. Cela pourrait rebuter plus d'un potentiel futur abonné.
