I remember watching the freeway chase in the theater and not believing my eyes. It looks pretty standard nowadays but back in the early 2000s it was crazy. Same with the subway fight and the lobby shootout, I used to watch the last act of The Matrix on loop for hours when I got the DVD back then.

I am so grateful to have been around and old enough to see The Matrix when it first debuted in theaters. Seeing the initial previews where the bullet-time was teased was absolutely jaw-dropping. This is one of those movies that defines a point in time before and after its existence.

I love how you used the accurate lines instead of paraphrasing from memory. The lobby scene is indeed a great scene. It has a perfect beginning (this moment), middle (a brilliantly choreographed, shot and edited shoot-out) and ending (Neo and Trinity casually stepping into the elevator, the ping and the doors closing, CUT TO: wide shot of the ravaged lobby, and then the marble plate of one of the columns falling). A saw a film analysis video once where Michael Bay-type action scenes were compared to the lobby scene. It was noted that the scene works so well because of its built-in pauses where the continuous barrage of action and sound briefly stops and then then continues, like the close-up of Neo grabbing the M16 rifle(?) off the floor while turning a cartwheel. It's those little moments that really elevate the scene from a good scene to a masterpiece.

I can’t believe the “…guns. Lots of guns.” scene wasn’t included. That is an *epic* scene, and a moment even those who didn’t see the movie know and remember…and it has become a Keanu Reeves staple so much so that it was homaged in the John Wick franchise.

*Just my theory* : Agent Smith got destroyed in part 1, but then not only got back because Neo kinda imprinted on him but also got "liberated". They're practically the good and evil, split personality in which the theme of the double is represented in a perfect way...therefore Agent Smith didn't die in part 1 and technically speaking Neo had to die in order to kill Agent Smith in Matrix Revolutions. This probably won't happen but, what if it's Agent Smith that is actually trying wake Neo up from his sleep? Because Smith isn't powerful enough to function on his own? Since Neo is still alive Agent Smith should also be alive

The Oracle might have already knew that he was "The One" in so many words of saying it to him whereas 'Neo has to die to himself" first in order to become "The One" when she gave him the "Sophie's choice" that either he or Morpheus had to die and he chose to sacrifice himself in an act to save Morpheus ..that may have been the turning point for him to be redeemable even more so.. So looking back she technically wasn't wrong The self that he visited her as was "him" not being the prophesied version we see later vs his current self meeting with her... He indeed was not the one and was not ready.. but with the choices that were laid before him, gave him the opportunity to go ahead and develop.
@sidolanters13942 жыл бұрын
That's an interesting question. She might not have known for certain. All we know is that everything she tells Neo and told Morpheus and Trinity (Neo that he's not The One-all the while encouraging him to "Know thyself"-Morpheus that he would FIND The One, Trinity that she would fall in love with a man, and that that man would BE the One) is either based on her knowledge that he is in fact The One or the assumption that he is The One. Regardless, the outcome is still the same. And The Oracle does what she needs to do try and produce that outcome. In order words, she tells everyone what they need to hear so they do what they need to do. In this way they are but means to an end, but the end is not predetermined. They are directed along a path, but they can still choose to stray from it. Despite all the talk of destiny and prophecy, there is still the problem of choice. And thus uncertainty. This is pointed out at the end of Revolutions, when Seraph asks the Oracle "Did you always know?", to which the Oracle replies: "Oh, no. No, I didn't. But I believed." Now I don't know how it's possible for destiny and free will to co-exist, but whether or not it is, isn't relevant to the movies. The Wachowskis aren't making any statements about the philosophical ideas they weave through the fabric of the movies. They don't try and provide any answers; rather, they play with the questions, as philosophers do. They keep us guessing. And they keep misleading us through Neo. Every time we THINK we recognize something as free will, it is then revealed that it wasn't free will after all; that it was only the illusion of free will. That what we thought was freedom is all "just another system of control". It's not about answering questions. It's asking them. Over and over and over again. "It's the question that drives us." And that's what life is. It's like Alan Watts said. We don't HAVE meaning; we ARE meaning.

It is vital and important to understand and remember what the “Architect “ told Neo. That there are multiple versions of the Matrix before the most recent one. Remember, Perciphony said the same thing. This might be one of the first versions of the Matrix. It explains Morpheus in him younger self. I think with multiple pills Neo thrives and lives forever in the Matrix. However he’s dying and getting older as new phases go on.
