Well the most primitive cultures of humanity did most of the figuring, at least in the places where they lived, centuries later their descendants already know what was good or wasn't, problem is, migration, when men started to travel to distant lands for trade or conquer they were presented with stuff new to them so unless they had locals telling them what was good or bad they were on their own.

I'm sick and tired of people that tells me to "just cut the green parts off the potato and you can eat it". The green part is chlorophyll, solanin does not have any color. If you don't keep potatoes in the dark, the amount of both solanin and chlorophyll will rise, the latter will make it green, and that's an indication that there's too much solanin in the entire potato.

Literally every kind of food can kill you. It varies depending of the amount of it you consume. For some, it would need a crazy among, while in others just a few g would be enough. For example, you can literally die from drinking too much water. In that particular case, your insides would not be able to absorve the minerals and vitamines you need because of drinking too much water (or any liquid for that matter. Yes, it would take a crazy amount of water to cause that effect, but its still possible. Too much of anything, no matter how healphy it is, can and will hurt you. Also don’t eat them raw, people that come here think that just because it’s called a fruit your meant to just pick it off the tree and pop them in. I heard a few reference for these foods: Lime beans where SpongeBob eats them while I didn't understand it at first but now I can see why xd I don't know how Nintendo made mushrooms as powerups for Mario seeing this video it ruined my nostalgia... So that's why Sonic hates Mushroom Hill Zone... Pufferfish is the easiest food that kill you when I think of that topic, as I wanna stay away from Qwilfish if I was in the Pokemon World and not eat it!

I ate a green potato chip once. I was between the ages of 11 and 15, and my family went to visit this family who we were friends with and another family friends of my family were also there. All the kids were watching The Wizard of Oz, and I came across a green potato chip and ate it.
