So, I recall one theory, not sure if it was something I read, or heard in a documentary, but, there was this idea going around that Earth is actually much larger than what we think, and that Antarctica isn't a continent at all, but an ice wall, surrounding the known continents, and separating us from lands and beings beyond the ice wall. Apparently there were maps that showed our continents and other land masses, from ancient times that they use as their reasoning to believe this theory to be true, but to me, sounds more like something that would be good for a movie idea.

@@jirmanosen They did one where since light travels in a straight line, excluding blackholes and what not, they decided to shine a beam of light through a hole, and if the earth was flat, the same light should shine through another hole some distance away. The second hole was far enough that, if the earth is round, the curvature would prevent the light from coming through. And wouldn’t you know it? The light didn’t shine through the second hole. I’m probably doing a bad job of explaining this, but feel free to look into this yourself

Being a budding smart-ass I pointed out that North America wasn't really "on top" of the globe and we were in danger of sliding off. The Silurian Hypothesis is so random only because it's based off Doctor Who. I know there's the long standing idea that there could've been a society before humanity, but they named the idea after something from the series. If they wanted it be taken somewhat seriously, ditch that name and go with something that sounds a bit more studied.

I can prove the Earth is round and rotating simply from longe rage shooting-the Coriolis Effect. Takes a little simple trig but basically when shooting long range(>1000M) and extreme long range(1500m), during the projectiles 6 even 10 sec flight time, you’ve to shoot where the target’s going to be, because the Earth has turned a bit and we’d have to compensate for this spinning. Shooting south in the Northern Hemisphere means the firing line, rifle, marksman and bullet are moving slower than the target. By the time that bullet arrives at the target it has moved from the point of aim and the bullet hits to the right. Firing North they hit left. It’s the opposite in the Southern hemisphere. It’s most prominent on the Equator as it’s spinning the fastest there, and to a lesser degree closer you get to the poles. When firing West they tend to hit low because the target is moving away during the flight time, firing East they hit high. Longest shot I’ve even pulled off was some 1650m with a .338 Norma Magnum and a 24” barrel. Had similar results with .338 Lapua Mag. It took several $ rounds but I hit the damned thing! A lot of luck with wind down range. I’m sure those projectiles zigged and zagged a couple times. Cannot recall the glass but I believe it was a Leupold or maybe the Zeiss 🤔? The flight times are insane to the point you can have enough dwell to ask your spotter scoot over and watch your own hit(more appropriately misses) through the spotting scope, which I found pretty neat. So the Earth is indeed round from what I’ve seen at very high altitude, and is indeed spinning, and it would have to be both to exhibit this unique phenomenon I’ve described.

There were people in the Americas when the Europeans...Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, English, even the Vikings, arrived. The people living in the Americas were the first to "discover" them. Those who trekked over the land bridge from Asia to the Americas which no longer exists. The Europeans didn't just "discover" land, they discovered a people, a culture.
