Okay I'm going to be blunt here the fact that you have to sign a waiver to eat these food shows that you're literally taking a risk that no one is willing to take and I say to those people who are willing to do that my hat is off to you. You earn my absolute respect. Plus those food better be damn good enough to be signing a waiver for and/or dying for.

Technically almost all of these waivers are novelty. The only one I can think of is the fishing one but technically you can't intentionally give someone something harmful regardless if they signed. Based on by the exculpatory agreements and liability laws. An example would be you can't sign a waiver to be shot with a bullet proof vest on the shooter would still be liable

I am surprised Buffalo Wild Wings's Blazin Challenge did not make the list where you have to eat 12 Bonein wings that has their hottest sauce in 12 min and cant drink anything. You also had to be 18+ and sign a waver too. I did it myself but failed with only 1 wing left.
@charlierunkle19 Жыл бұрын
For some reason I don't remember having to sign a waiver. Honestly I thought that challenge sucked. The flavor of the sauce kinda sucked and the wings were just far too physically hot. Got my t shirt though I also got videotaped and watched by a bunch of people when I had massive globs of snot coming out of my nose, and they wouldn't let me wipe my face.

I used to be fascinated with food challenges like these. Man Vs Food was a regular reality TV staple of mine in university, and I was totally engrossed with the "hotter, bigger, sweeter" concepts that restaurants would conjure up to get people in the door. But after witnessing a hot dog eating contest at a festival in-person, I was disgusted by how much waste there was. Not only do amateur contestants not finish their plates, they throw up. A LOT. And all those prepped items and the meals these places are making are enough to feed a table of 6, only to wind up being thrown out because the vast majority of people attempting the challenge can't finish it. And then there's the associated health risks that come with these competitions. What enjoyment do you get out of eating a week's worth of recommended protein in one sitting just to win a T-shirt and your photo on the wall? Is it worth being confined to a toilet for the next 24 hours after ripping through 6 of the country's hottest chicken wings? Is the prize money for finishing an obscenely large ice cream sundae worth the discomfort and symptoms of sugar withdrawal? Adam Richman, the original host and participant of these food eating competitions, revealed that he gained over 60 pounds and developed an array of physical and mental disorders as a result of the show he was on for 4 seasons. We have such an abundance of food in North America, but yet we still have millions of food insecure households here too. I think it's that contrast between those stuffing their faces, and those passing on eating for a day because they can't afford groceries that angers me most. It's a sideshow designed to attract consumers and build brand recognition, but it's wasting food, it's damaging to your health and wellbeing, and it's a slap in the face to those who rely on soup kitchens and assistance programs in order to have nutritious meals.

I really like spicy food. I mean very spicy. But, when you reach a certain level, it becomes more of a challenge than a fiery tasting dish. It's all pain. And that's the only thing you're concentrating on rather than any flavor it has. Something you do with your buddies to prove how macho you are or when you're drunk and figure, what the heck? Or maybe a combination of the two.
