That dial reminds me of a Smiths altimeter I one owned that came out of a late mk Spitfire, not my cup of tea but millions of Spitfire enthusiasts around the world will love it I like the IWC Spitfire watch Great review as always 👍

It is refreshing to see a review that calls out the price point using an NH35. Too many companies want to charge $400+ for an NH35. No way! $100-$200 is about right for a $20 movement. I do own an AVI-8 mecca-quartz pilot type watch and it cost $100. Priced right and I like it.

I want to buy this watch, my wrist is 18mm and I'm not sure if it will be too big for me. Thanks for this amazing vídeo

This is a watch that will look even better with wear, so many people want watches to look pristine, wear them, enjoy them let them get the character of your life!

The crown is modelled around a propeller, so if it was signed it would detract from it. I think it looks awesome, and I would definitely buy it if I didn’t already have the AVI-8 Spitfire Type 300. Avi-8 are one of my favourite brands. I adore fighter planes and fighter jets, and they are the only company out there that really do justice to them. Literally like having the aircraft on your wrist. So far I have a Quartz Hurricane, Mitchell Flyboy Engineer and Spitfire Type 300. Keep up the great work AVI-8!

5:04 while I do agree with bezel being better if polished I really do like gray numbers for minutes it looks awesome. If they were lighter it would be whole mess to look at and ugly and confusing !

I think the pvd might have been chosen because when it gets dinged up and scratched it adds a sort of battle hardened look. Not my choice but just a guess

Good detailed assessment however, I didn’t agree with some issues raised. I like that the other numbers are less bright. It adds to the unique flair of the watch overall and shows off the four significant numbers. Also, the black basal will scratch but will add authenticity and wear overtime. Personally I like this attribute as it adds character. Finally, I didn’t understand all the technical data information in the end. If it works and lasts then it is good value. Will see how it goes but loving the first day 😉

I wish it had more lume. Did they want to make a dress watch or tool watch. I would be removing the pvd as soon as it scratches, also all the shiny bits.

Good looking aviator, but definitely needs to be improved upon. I hope avi8 is paying attention.

I just visited AVI-8 website and I found it poorly executed. This watch has been reduced to $229.00, however they show photos of the PVD watch as well as one with a brushed bezel surround with no way to specify which model to choose. Also extremely disappointing was no photo or indication of the beautiful treatment of the rotor or the see-through back. If I had been presented with the choice of finish and indication of the see-through case back I would have bought the watch.

16 November 2022 update to my previous comment: I contacted AVI-8 regarding my previous comment regarding the lack of data/photos on this watch. I received a response the next day expressing genuine concern no representation of the see-through back and custom rotor were presented on their website. That was a clear indication AVI-8 is using a third party web developer who wouldn't know a watch from a bag of potatoes. That being said, those of us with obsessive detail "disorder" who had a web designer representing our product would have immediately beheaded those concerned and mounted their heads on a pike. Regardless of my "Vlad The Impaler" persona, I ordered the "Smith" watch at the reduced price. I must say at the reduced price the watch is superb. The black PVD coating on the face surround (IMHO) is very nice and as I will most likely not be wearing this watch in combat (retired U.S Army), I surmise it will withstand my personal useage. The lume lasts throughout the entire night and my partner confirmed that, as she was awakend at 0300 and exclaimed, "Are you jerking off or what?" Accuracy is +5 sec/day. (watch not me) Concluding this episle, as a former sniper approaching geritatric decripitude the visibilty of the watch is simply wonderful and I highly recommend it at anything under $300. USD.
