Mel seems harmless but she came off incredibly desperate in the "goodbye" video as well as several videos leading up to that one. She seems like she wants so badly to be in a club that just doesn't want her. Yes, it's elitist. Yes, it's classist. But let's be real, she is not their ideal client. Will they let her spend her money? Of course! But she's nowhere near a VIP client. She even said as much when she admitted in that video that she has overspent (it's in one of the letters to her SA. I was going to get a time stamp, but I don't care that much). This is not her lifestyle. She's chasing a high, a rush, or something that makes her feel special. The rejection was like watching a bad Lifetime movie where the main character's rejection from the cheerleading squad or sorority wreaks havoc on her psyche. However, I agree with the commenter that says that the store manager is a wimp. Mel is an annoying client and her desperation enters the room before she does, but she is not a client that can't be handled. If the sales associate couldn't handle her, the store manager should have. My first year of law school I worked at Macy's and I saw behavior that makes this look like child's play. If people don't think Hermes doesn't have super wealthy people screaming at them for bags and men harassing sales associates on behalf of their wives and mistresses, then they are naïve. It's just that those clients are worth it because they have near unlimited funds (and better trained associates who deal with them). Mel is annoying without the backing of large funds. My ultimate conclusion is that Mel is annoying but harmless, but wasn't worth the hassle to the sales associate or store. She has definitely been unofficially blacklisted. No sales associate at that store will want to work with her and I agree she will never be sold a B/K/C from that store again. I wish her well, but she needs to figure out why she was so desperate. It's not just because she's a fan of the leather and craftsmanship.

I think the new must have Hermès item should be the riding crop, instead of the kelly bag or birkin 😆 imagine how confused Hermès would be
@SuperDacob3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha! Indigo girl, I am LOVING the way you delivered this!!! And yes, Hermes would be so confused like when one time my dad played a little joke on his cat (he loved that cat and that cat loved him by the way... always wanted to sleep next to him)... the cat pooped in its little designated box and my dad snatched the poop before the cat could turn around, look at it and then do the whole thing cats do after pooping: they burry their poop and stuff...so the cat poops, my dad snatched the poop, the cat then turns around and can’t find the poop so it gets confused... did it actually poop?!? Does it need to poop again? It stood there with that look in its face of total confusion. It was about to burry the poop but instead it started digging all around to see if it actually pooped or not. (My dad then handed the poop to the cat and all ended well and they were best buddies as always)... LOL. But my point is this: making the Hermes crops the new desirable and sold out IT item of the brand would be so confusing to them like as if we took their poop right from under them. 😂 They would start digging out all the Birkins and Kellys out that they were artificially hiding in the sand box all this time... 😂😂😂

You are so articulate and exquisite in the way you express yourself and in your taste. You’re like a beautifully crafted jewel! Im absolutely here for the dissection of it, and by the curiosity on how people give such importance for a brand. Its very interesting. I had no idea this universe existed. I know Hermês (i know it exists lol) and I understand the french european manner to deal with issues. The culture of Hermês and other french houses I believe is mine as an european (non anglo saxon) we don’t like confrontation and pushing. We like subtility It’s embarrassing and awkward to be exposing personal life events for a bag is lack of taste. But I totally agree that they also treated her badly lol. I just didn’t know about these issues about a bag. My grandfather was cobbler and made beautiful bags beautifully crafted and I can tell they cost a little tiny little fraction of what they sell! I had a supplier of shoes that made a similar model of the hermês sandal (totally legal no brand etc ) completely in leather that are actually better quality (the soles are way better) and its 40 euro client price! Lol made in Portugal 🇵🇹 the quality is really good. Bags will cost more but not in the thousands maybe 200/300 top. These brands take advantage, but I understand people like you know all that you are so very educated! I appreciate you english and I apologize for mine! Check Cavalinho Brand you might like it. Its same or better quality than LV for example. Blessings to you💕

Hermes has their own policies of doing business. They are so successful that they can decide whom to sell their bags to. Hermes is known for the Birkin and Kelly but there’s also the Constance, Picotin, Evelyne and a variety of other bags. They also have fashion, shoes, fine jewelry, watches and homeware. There are many clients that spend more than Mel and may not have been offered a bag but they do not have a social media platform to complain. Those who shop at Hermes knows the coveted bags are not mass produced. The number of bags they make, has to be distributed to all the stores they have around the world. And those stores who do receive the bags are limited, so if there’s only three Birkins that comes in, the store manager decides whom to sell the bag to (imagine how many people are on the wishlist). Yes it’s crazy about the Hermes craze but we are talking about people who appreciate the craftsmanship of their bags. I do not know both sides of the story. Part of me believes Mel was emotionally blackmailing her Client Advisor with all her issues. She thought by saying all these things she would get a bag but didn’t. How many sob stories do you think these CA have heard? As to why it wasn’t the store manager who addressed Mel, no one knows Hermes policy of dealing with clients. The company has been successfully in business since 1800’s. They have governing bodies of how to handle all facets of their business and that includes what a store manager can and cannot do. Just a thought… how does Mel know the name of the store manager? And why would she follow him on Instagram? I think this is a smart strategy, get to know the store manager because ultimately they are the decision makers of who to sell the B & K to. I think this is a possibility why both CA and store manager did not speak to Mel personally. As for why HR contacted her, until someone does a deep dive on how Hermes deals with difficult clients, we are all assuming. A deep dive into how Hermes and other fashion houses deals with difficult customers would be interesting. Also Mel took her post down, only to bring it back up after she was widely discussed on YT. She’s a smart woman, she knows by putting her video public again, she will gain so many viewerships and that equates to $$$$

She was emailing her SA a novel on her personal life and several things that weren't about sales. Yes, I understand the money spent should make you feel valued as a customer, and a feel that your personal life matters. But, this is business at the end of the day. The SA wants a straightforward, no nonsense client. I think they became annoyed by her, and put her off for that reason. They want a certain type of clientele and I don't think she's the type.
@kathrynimhoff3443 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. The contact from HR was wrong and unprofessional. They should have handed her business over to the manager who could send her a handwritten note introducing herself and informing her that she will be handling her much appreciated custom in the future. Then the manager could ignore any e mails that crept over to the crazy side. Mel was expecting too much from the SA.
@kathleenem92073 жыл бұрын
I think that person who was super critical of your video on POF was really coming from a place of her own issues and possibly some language misinterpretation. I have seen many of Mel’s videos, the last video she made about Hermes, and other KZbinrs videos about the situation. Your perspective was, by far , the most even-handed and neutral of them all. You remained calm and discussed the facts. Both sides could have handled it differently for sure and both sides have their own viewpoints but I doubt we will hear much from any Hermes spokesperson. I don’t think they want to delve too deep into this murky water. You make a very good point about the game they play but with their unspoken rules. I would be very surprised to see their “rules” ever written down in black and white. I’m pretty sure a company could not legally dictate what an individual does with her own possessions. That being said, I believe they have the right not to sell to her if they suspect she is a reseller. Hermes cannot stop reselling but they can discourage it in that way. It appears they are taking the British Royal Family’s approach about accusations- Never complain and never explain. Keep up the good work. You dealt with this topic in a very professional manner. There are always TWO sides to a story. Sometimes they are both right. In this case, I think they were both wrong.

@JessieGoober3 жыл бұрын
@F.R.N. F true, but Hermes is a large brand and reselling is really common. She had so many different SAs that the particular SA probably didn’t know her long enough to have an opinion about her. The manager who may or may not have blocked her might have said “no don’t give her a bag”, but I find her comments about that manager very strange. She said many times that she didn’t know who that person was. If she was such a great important client for Hermes or had any significant “relationship” with the house like she seemed to indicate, how did she not know the manager at the only location she shops at?

This is just my take on the brand manager blocking Mel on his/her personal IG page: I find that it is okay to do so because it's their personal IG page. If they feel that a person may potentially be problematic for them, they have the right to do so. Also I do feel like there is more to the story than what Mel says. However what the store manager could have done is reach out to Mel through the official communication lines of the brand or reach out to HQ and have the upper management and even possibly legal team deal with her.

I don’t think you were malicious in your intent nor judgmental really but I do think in general, making a response video to her experience does trivialize her integrity. It creates a space for her experience to be dissected, legitimized, invalidated, etc. Yes her video is for all of us to see but the reaction to her video from commenters and other influencers are way more dramatic than her video itself, so I don’t blame her for shutting off the comments…too many of the comments were rude and out of pocket. She has a right to not deal with it, just like the Hermès worker blocked her which is confusing to me that she even knew their social media info…I digress….The difference though is she is a PAYING customer and you acknowledged that and said you thought Hermes wasn’t right for sicking HR on her. When that amount of money is being spent is in the equation, people can get crazy and I think we can see why….not saying it’s right. You were honest and saw both sides from your perspective. Lo hecho esta hecho…c’est la vie…I mean whatever. At the end of the day we’re all entitled to our opinions and while sharing our opinions isn’t always right, warranted, or appropriate…we can also choose to not care and be messy, which is a guilty pleasure for many of us and more fun. She is probably using luxury items to distract from deeper emotional problems. But it's like if a kid is getting bullied at school or has an eating disorder and someone says children in Africa are starving to death so they should be grateful and have no right to be upset. Can the Hermes Crop stay around to slap the bed fashion / bad comments or something :)

Look, I watch Dacobs videos strictly for information content. He has his own opinion on shit, period. I take what, I think pertains or, is relevant to me. Everything else is just babbling. Lol Those of you that don’t like his videos, DON’T WATCH.

No, i don't think your video looks like "man telling silly woman who she did wrong". Not at all. It was fair enough. Why even bringing gender into it? That person who gave that comment was just being offended for not the right reason. That being said, I did enjoy Dacob's video.

I kind of went back and did a little research on her KZbin channel. I get the impression that she is not stupid. I also watched her making excuses for selling this or that bag. which she did not like or use. which is her right to sell. She is merely trying to make a living like everyone else. Do I think there is more to the story? Probably. .. Not really worth the conversation. I do believe however you did present your videos about her with pros and cons. She seems a bit desperate and sad to me.

Oh come on Dacob, this is old news. Hermes have blocked her and she's bought her "dream" bag from a reseller. Let's stop milking her ordeal/experience.
