I’m assuming you weren’t dealing with wealthy Asian clientele. They typically like to advertise their financial status and they won’t associate with anyone who doesn’t because they really look down on people of lower socioeconomic status. I suspect this is why even broke Asians are often clamoring to buy luxury items. There are a few exceptions but these seem to be the general themes that I observe more often than not.

I used to work in luxury retail. Many of the ‘wealthy’ people I met, were not dripping in labels. Just because someone doesn’t look rich, doesn’t mean they are not rich. Also, if you are the kind of person who judges people on this basis, you need to have a word with yourself. There are different levels of luxury and luxury does not automatically mean money. It can be health, relationships, gratitude, etc…

Many who make these controversial TikTok videos backpedal that their point is that we should “be ourselves” instead of “aspiring” but if that’s truly their intended message, they need to peer review it or something because it’s not clear and sounds gate-keepy, classist, and ignorant of a long history of inequality in our society. Like how dare anyone want to move through society with beautiful things and be privy to better treatment. It’s like when people tell women we “shouldn’t care” what we look like to revolt against sexism/the male gaze. Not everyone is interested in making life harder for themselves, or they may actually enjoy dressing up, makeup, and how grooming makes THEM feel. also there are many people who spend a ton on cars, camera equipment, tech gadgets, hiking or other sports gear or expensive, nonessential hobbies, but they don’t experience shaming.

I find it so interesting how people who don’t have money have opinions on how people who have money should behave. I was just watching another video of a woman who said she was fired for wearing a Birkin into work, and everyone just commented on how it probably wasn’t real. That has nothing to do with the fact that she was Improperly dismissed. So many people had video reactions about how it doesn’t seem like she could actually afford a Birkin. She’s a nurse they make a lot of money. You don’t know what her family history is, or perhaps it was a gift. But regardless, why do these people care? Like why are so many people hating on people who actually have nice things. I have a lot of nice things and I don’t make a lot of money. I did, which is when I bought it, It’s OK to have nice things and not be wealthy. You can treat yourself to something good why does everybody have to hate on you for having something nice. And it’s always people that don’t have a lot of nice things that are hating on the people that do. It’s just a crazy world. We’re living in right now. That waitress can have her opinion because no one can take that away from her but she should know that it doesn’t matter what bag you wear that determines what kind of tip you’re gonna get. Because there’s a lot of wealthy people out there that do not tip well and a lot of broke people that tip generously and vice versa. Why is our culture so obsessed with judging each other? I don’t get it, I’m really happy you made this video. My favorite line from this video. We’re gonna have to resuscitate her from the floor. The confusion my God lol.

And she carries her cash and credit cards with a zip lock all around. I was laughing at her all the time and here I am can’t even afford it. Her logic is when it gets dirty it’s easy to throw them out 😁😂

Don’t agree with her. Wealthy people don’t dress from head to toe in any brand. They wear what they like.

Thank you for saying what you said. We should be able to wear what we love. The things that makes us individually happy. ❤

Yeah well said. As if we have to prove ourselves to waitresses...

Luxury is not only bought for sake in itself, but the aesthetics of the material, shape etc. Thank goodness we don't have to wear a "uniform", but wear each piece for what gives pleasure

1. People need to refocus from “looking” rich and embrace their personal style and luxurious quality. 2. I used to think you had to be “Matchy matchy” with brands and now I appreciate mixing brands. 3. I’m not wealthy and know my financial lane. I like luxury accessories but don’t think ready to wear is worth it. I love mixing it with my express/zara clothes.

I have a small lux brand wallet. But I also have a Hello Kitty Chococat one in my Amazon cart. Because I also want cute fun things. As for faking wealth...well hmph! I don't think the Princess of Wales is faking when she wears a Zara blazer with Balmain trousers. Or that she and Wills wear only non designer sneakers. Adidas, Asics, New Balance, Superga, Veja, etc. Yay them! Plus her Mulberry and Aspinal bags. Aspirational plebs like me can buy a lot of these things. She is the ultimate influencer without trying.

Dacob, I'm not even involved in fashion very much, but appreciate the craftsmanship of top quality items. You do have keen insights on human behavior and it's refreshing to hear your combination of composed sensibility as well as down-to-earth understanding. Your work and videos and personality are superb. Keep going with these great videos! 👍🏻

Thank you for all you do. Like that statement: Gate keeper your own happiness. Don't tell everyone everything. New 2024, I'm working on implementing that. Have a great week and a blessed day.

So ridiculous. I wear what I want. What I wear is none of other peoples business. 😂

Most people judge because they feel they are being judged. It really is true what you said about people not wanting you to be happy. I just shared some exciting and amazing news with family and friends about something that has been mine and my husband's dream, what we have been working our whole lives for and it is about to happen and no one was happy or excited for us. It is called jealousy! I do not plan on it ruining my happiness and joy!

I bought a handmade zippy coin pouch in Thailand on the street for a few bucks, and I throw that inside every bag I own lol 😂, I actually love it more now then any of my wallets. I’ve been using it 5 years

Awww if people don’t like that your happy you need to find better friends/acquaintances. Being happy for someone takes nothing away from one’s self….I have never understood why people can be so jealous
