Thanks, for saying this. I often get told, that I have an accent and some SAs get rude, when I need a moment, to think of a specific word. Even, just in daily life. But this is my third language and I only moved to the USA in 2018. Now I sometimes, if I’m annoyed by rudeness, offer, that we could talk in Spanish or german, if it’s more convenient.

Omgosh, I saw this happen with my own eyes in the LV on the Champs de Elysee. A client asked if they spoke Spanish and the SA said with an attitude, "No, we only speak English or French", I felt so bad for her. On the other hand I have been to 31 Rue Cambon and had the most lovely SA named Gil, offering me drinks etc.. He was a doll and I only purchased makeup and parfum. I have received awful customer service at the LV in Paris at the Vendome location, he was a total jerk with his nose up in the air. Dude you have a job because I spend!!!!!
@LiaAndrews2 жыл бұрын
I spend a lot on perfume, but I am picky. I sample and wear in different weather and occasions before I purchase. I have purchased Chanel perfumes because I was given samples to really try out. So short-sighted, especially for Beauty Boutique exclusives. If you want to maintain luxury status how about offering impeccable quality and customer service and treating your employees well so you attract and mainatain the best SAs?
@itsjuliescottyay2 жыл бұрын
I think that a lot of companies, not just Chanel, are losing sight of the fact that samples are to encourage you to buy full sizes of products. When I get free samples, I don’t collect them, I use them immediately. This is how I found a lot of new products that I’ve added to my life. Usually the samples are considered a necessary expense for any company that produces perfumes or cosmetics. I don’t understand this idea that you’re giving the customer a gift, rather than promoting more purchasing of your product.
@SuperDacob2 жыл бұрын
I should have specified more clearly that we were talking about samples and freebies. The freebies being the stickers, snow globes, towels, trinkets, string bracelets, bag charms, head bands and so on…. Those products which are not samples of creams or makeup or perfume, that a brand gives as a thank you for purchasing their products.
@itsjuliescottyay2 жыл бұрын
@@SuperDacob Ok, but considering how little it costs to make those things, and the good relationship it creates with them, it still seems like they shouldn’t be worrying about the same person getting gifts multiple times - especially if the person spent more money. Just my opinion, and I’m quite sure that a lot of other companies are doing the same thing. The thing I just really can’t get past is the fact that they lowered their sales staff’s commissions because the prices went up. As a person who has been in sales for years, that hurts my heart.
@pinkdragonfly96252 жыл бұрын
Going back to something you mentioned about discrimination is not luxury. I hear you and I’d like to highlight luxury SHOULDN’T be discriminatory. Unfortunately, luxury (the way in which we celebrate it in our society) has always been tied to classism and one can’t talk about classism without bringing up racism. Especially when the most coveted brands we speak of when we discuss luxury are long-standing white European brands that historically catered to the white and wealthy. So yeah it’s no surprise that luxury would be tied to discriminatory practices. That’s not to say contemporary brands aren’t capable of the same behavior because they definitely are. But luxury brands (again, the way it’s practiced as a whole) by their very nature have always had an element of racism. Which is why I appreciate newer brands promoting affordable luxury and inclusivity. The way “luxury” is defined needs to change and I agree with much of what you’re saying. But at the end of the day we alllllll know which brands are being referred to when someone says luxury and they’re definitely not these new brands. I pray that changes one day. 🙏🏾

The treatment of the Indigena is a disgrace. They often just want to be left alone. Everyone looks down on them. And everybody acts, as if they got no indigenous blood in their family, although half of Guatemalans have indigenous blood, they’re racist against themselves. That said, Latino backgrounds composed a LARGE part of this multi-cultured staff. Therefore, I can attest (disclaimer: in my experience at this location) that 1/6 of operating boutiques in the state have indeed NOT discriminated against the Latino population, nor that of any. As a white American man, I have taken up learning the Spanish language in order to fuel the impact which I can have in my community. People need to simply learn respect.

Hello Dear Dacob, Something is telling me this sample mess is going to escalate to the proportions of the infamous calendar. A couple of years back, I had a wonderful sales associate who returned to her hometown after making the decision of quitting working for Chanel. Back in the days ( we are looking at 3-4 years ago) they were already "requested" to put the samples down on their paper receipts for customers. (I have the proof) When I asked the lovely sales associate why they would do that, she answered they are given a certain quota in terms of providing the samples. Everything seemed to have been counted by the store manager. If she gave me a simple or two more, she would then have to cut down or "ideally" not give out any samples to the other customer. They withdrew from the ridiculous policy as it seemed and now they are back on track. #greed has no boundaries

If I ever get a free sample and I really like it, I will almost certainly buy it. Sometimes many months after receiving the sample, so it is definitely beneficial for the brands to give free samples to customers! Sometimes I have to try the product for a while, so a few samples of the same thing can be really helpful. They seem to have lost sight of that fact! Although, yes I guess some people can abuse the system … but that’s life I guess xxx

As far as I'm concerned, I don't automatically see freebies as little rewards for being so faithfull to the brand, but, it's a way for them to make you try other products that you may end buying, so they definetly profit from this so called "generosity". Frustrating clients from samples is a huge mystake, to me. I like the point you made about their employees being exploited, because, this is a reality in luxury. As a matter of fact, that always gets me out of my nerves when I hear about "my SA ... Bla bla bla, I asked for another SA that gets my style... Bla bla bla..." They still cannot track which client or co-worker resold the samples since the samples have no tracking device nor do they have any authenticity codes unique to each single piece produced. Hey Dacob :) big fan as you know…, you mention racism was ‘created’…. My thoughts though, when looking back to tribal times…. We are by nature designed to fear those that are different to us, as they could be a threat to our lives. Instinct & human behavior that is not dissimilar to animals…. ‘We’ are going through a huge time of change currently, driven by access to information & each other & learning to not be fearful of those that are different to us…. But I believe our evolution happens slowly……100% be kind…. Even to those less educated & less evolved as it takes time. Fear is the enemy ☺️…. Just my 2 cents

It was totally created. A mouse fears a snake because it learned that the snake will eat it. A mouse does not discriminate or fear against another mouse, no matter what the color of its fur may be. There are mice with all fur colors and they do not discriminate each other just because they have differing color fur. Humans do that because they CHOSE to do so for their own egotistical economical gain. Racism is not innate, it is made, constructed and indoctrinated into the minds and spirits of people. Xoxo

I think they’re just testing if giving the samples generates future sales. This is the only way for them to know. They probably internally started questioning the effectiveness of giving samples for future sales. It makes good business sense.

Makes sense to give the samples to caucasian blonde people but not Latino and Black people? Cuz thats what I talk about in this video and yet you flew right over that detail in your observation…

I understand gathering data, but there is no reason to make the customer fill the form themselves. The SA can input the data, for God's sake.

You’re exactly the type of person this video warns us about… white, elitist, close minded, racist… I would be ashamed to comment.

I think luxury is behind the times. Let’s be honest, SAs profiled because they needed to spend time with big spenders. However, in todays world, anyone from any race and background can be a big spender as all races begin to have better lives. They need to get with the program, it is 2021. The other side of the equation, where human decency should tell you to treat everyone equally seldom applies in luxury. It’s antagonistic to what they represent, only for the elites. Go figure and we sort of eat it up (feeling a little guilty?)

Chanel is being greedy once again..not surprised. good thing i don‘t buy Chanel beauty anymore the way you described racial profiling is how its done in Europe as well, SA‘s say horrible things about Chinese or Russian customers right in front of them knowing they don’t understand local language

Only thing we can deduct from your ignorant comment is that you are a big part of the problem. Typical denial behavior with the “look the other way” attitude, which always ends up enabling racism. Way to go ruth… way to go girl…
