Ex Jehovah's Witness speculates and comments on the recent changes Watchtower has been making, pants for sisters, ties are optional, you can mildly treat disfellowshipped ones like they have feelings (but don't overdo it) and on; they changed the hour reporting, allowed beards, what next? Will this foment a schism in the Watchtower Society? Will we see splits, or entire Elder bodies dissolved? JWs are told what to believe, they are handed "fish" and not taught how to fish. Their beliefs require a lack of critical thinking and Biblical analysis in order to maintain any semblance of coherence. And JW's are forced to eat the fish they are handed under threat of excommunication, even if they privately believe differently.

I suggest you go to the UN website and look up the fact that the Watchtower Society held NGO status with with United Nations, the wild-beast according to Watchtower doctrine. This was a partnership between 1992-2001. This partnership requires that the NGO partner push pro UN news and information, which they subtly did in the Awake. When caught by the guardian, they lied and said they only partnered with the UN to gain access to the UN library, NGO status to access which was not needed until 2003, but, regardless, does library access justify a partnership with the Wildbeast? I can see that being viable. The die-hard JWs will likely stick to the "letter of the law" as handed down on digital tablets by the corporate priesthood; but I can see the camel's nose under the tent for the looser JWs regarding communication with inactive ones or even DFed members, because many of them are in contact with sources of damaging information to the watchtower. Unfortunately, the hypnotized PIMI's will break their figurative backs to rationalize the Tower and disassociate from reality to protect the ego/delusion when confronted with facts and evidence, even from JW org or the Watchtower magazines. This whole idea of dress codes being oppressive is very new in the western world. I don't get it. Dressing well is a way of demonstrating self-respect, and respect to others. I loved how well dressed the JWs were. So refreshing to see people dressed up and classy in a world where everyone dresses like a slob all the time. In the earlier part of the 20th century, suits were considered "casual" dress for men, and tshirts were considered underclothes.

Ah, but what makes a certain set of clothing demonstrate class or self-respect? (1980s-1990s office worker) Are they following worldly standards and culture? It seems like they are slowly trend-following. Much of "modern" western dress culture is devolved from the Victorian era. I believe one can present themselves in a respectable manner without being micromanaged by GB businessmen. Fundamentally, it is a corporate dress policy, barely shy of a uniform, with the costs foisted upon its members.

What happened to hats? Up until the 1950's everybody wore hats when dressing formally. Men took off their hats in church, but women left them on. Why? Does anyone here know what the custom was for JW's wearing hats?

The facial hair, when I happen to see the face of a JW, is...unnerving in the sense that it is both "normal" but also unexpected on particular faces that I grew up with or knew for years. It really changes the look of a man, I feel, from boyish to man. Unfortunately the truly die-hards are under a spell, hypnosis, and trapped by their own ego and fear; their ego and fear being consciously acknowledging a fact: They lived a lie and were deceived by people they trusted. I'm amazed that the most important doctrine that is unique to JW's, the 1914 generation teaching, which was a complete failure, hasn't woken up more JW's. If you think about it, had WW1 not happened, 1914 would have gone the way of 1799, 1874, 1878, 1881 and any other dates that were abandoned. The org as we know it never would have existed.

@@hybridous To my knowledge, the local "Territories" already consolidated to an extent, from sales, there were multiple Congregations meeting in one building, (including of different languages) on different days and times. On one hand it can make sense, in an urban area more use from one building equals maintenance by multiple groups and shared expenses, but in rural areas, the travel time can be over an hour. The local hall near me is pretty...central, we had visitors coming from other halls for a while; as far as I am aware, there are new members (or new old JWs) in that hall.

My Ex-Wife tried to do the same thing with me of trying to get me to become a member of the Jehovah Witnesses Governing Body Organization Corporation. I am not a conformist, I tried to get them to understand that through my heaving questioning. I have studied them and with them for decades as a child of 13 years of age with my family and Mom and no father. They sound good at first, as I noticed behavioral changes. My Mom stopped when confronted with the Memorial service not being able to partake of the Wine🍷 Blood and Bread 🍞 Body, they shouldn't have judged her.

Don't know about a sphere, but there does seem to be a problem in the "commercial" real-estate market at the moment. Henry George pointed out that we can always create more capital or labor, but land is limited. Watchtower has done very well in the real-estate market, they make cash off of Congregations after all, but membership is falling, consolidation is necessary, literature peddling is down, and donations from PIMO's will be down as well. Perhaps they seek the advantages inherent to the digital space, for example, selling a subscription to their indoctrinates; they may believe they could save money of remote workers, hidden outsourcing, and AI tools; at the same time, they can continue offloading property in the form of Kingdom Halls and Assembly Centers, or other assets. I feel it is too little too late anyway, and because of their disconnect from reality and from people and the general kooky nature of Watchtower, they will not be successful in competing as a digital media company; not with all the news about them and ready access to the internet.

First of all, thanks for your video. The way I see it, they are been pushed the aftermath of covering up child abuse for decades, and the recent rulings regarding the shunning effects on youngsters in Norway. As a result they do not find a speedy way out and try to implement some new guidelines on dress, and a little make-up related to us disfellowshpped. I guess tha more big changes are sure to come in the coming next month.
