The odd text is called Lorem Ipsum or 'greeking'. It is a standard method of producing the shape of an article before the actual text is written. It came into use around the 1960's though it was used less often a lot earlier. In its standard form Lorem Ipsum is a nonsense mashup of a 1st century Latin text by Cicero. Usually someone beats me to a pointless bit of trivia like this. But watch any movie with barely visible text and you'll see it with subtle variations in thousands of films. Once you look for it you can't unsee it.

Being a filmmaker, I'm very familiar with it, and assumed it was that to begin with. But I can't find any version of it online that matches the exact text from this movie.

+Watchtower Database So that means there can be multiple GL's from Earth? I mean John replaced Hal, wouldn't Kyle replace John or opposite? Isn't it supposed to be only 1 GL from Earth aka the chosen one?
@dcauwatchtower6 жыл бұрын
John didn’t replace anyone. Hal Jordan has only “appeared” once: his name scrawled on the side of an Air Force jet in one Superman episode. Kyle Rayner took over from Abin Sur when the latter died in the same episode. It was later explained in Justice League’s “Hearts and Minds” that Kyle was sent to Oa to be trained by Katma Tui. John Stewart has supposedly been the Green Lantern of Sector 2814 for several years, so it has been hypothesized that he and Abin Sur may have been sector partners. So yes, in theory there are multiple Green Lanterns per sector in the DCAU.
@dcauwatchtower6 жыл бұрын
Finding new information every day: "Dwayne McDuffie on Green Lantern: “We’ve explained [John Stewart’s background] in bits and pieces: John was a Green Lantern long before Kyle, but not in this sector (he was with the Honor Guard). When Abin Sur got into trouble, his ring found another worthy Earthman, Kyle Rayner. When Kyle was reassigned for training, John came back to cover Earth’s sector, as it was an opportunity to serve near his home planet."
@LibraGamesUnlimited6 жыл бұрын
Basically, there was an episode of Superman the Animated Series where Sinestro was killing Green Lanterns and capturing their rings. He killed the Green Lantern of sector 2814 (the one that includes Earth) but the ring got to Kyle and Superman helped him take out Sinestro. When it was time to do the Justice League they went with John because they didn't want an all-white team so they explained that Kyle was on Oa training (there was a bit that stated this in "Hearts and Minds" which had a bunch of Green Lanterns in it). It's kind of like how they added Hawkgirl (without there ever being a Hawkman) and replaced Aquaman with her so there would be another woman on the team. It's also why I get annoyed with people who don't understand that, in the comics, Hal was the Green Lantern who helped found the Justice League.

That text on the document is called ‘lorem ipsum’. Just Incase anyone was curious. It’s commonly used by web developer, designers, and animators. Originally, it’s used as placeholder text, literal filler to plug in so you can see the overall layout until you get the real material. In a lot of animation they use it for quick scenes like newspapers or documents just to flush out the document without spending time actually drafting text. It’s all in Latin, and literally means nonsense. I’ve used lorem ipsum that would randomly list cuts of pork, and then a sentence later give a broken sentence about how great Thomas Edison was. There’s a few different versions, so they can be fun to translate if you have a slow day.

It's just a movie. It doesn't exist within the Animated Series and Beyond timeline (no matter what the creators say because then, with all )the inconsistencies, it'd end up being retconned). It's just done in a similar style.
@JohnSmith-lt1ck6 жыл бұрын
Blu Dj I think you’re right. From what I know, it’s set in the DCAU but may or may not be canon. Like Spider-Man: The New Animated Series. Set in the Raimi film timeline, it picks up where the first movie left off (Harry hating Spidey, Norman dying, etc.) but is not canon, with parts of the story being very inconsistent, such as Doc Connors being a dead mutated biologist where he’s a pretty much healthy physicist in the canon timeline. Sorry I brought up Marvel to those purely DC fans out there. Just can’t find a DC-related example. I am praying this was not canon. And if Melissa Rauch were to reprise her role, she should use her regular voice. Accent was too heavy here and I know she can do better.

I have a theory that the chemicals that made him a clown also gave him a slow but powerful form of regeneration, to the point he can come back even from death, it just takes time (except when it doesn't). I do think a lot of things, like the appearance or refrence of some characters not seen before could be explained as "they first showed up since the end of the last movie/episodes/whatever". Hal could also be a fictional character in that universe or maybe became a Green Lantern after the series ended and the movies picked up. Maybe "Green Lantern: First Flight" is a part of this continuity even if the animation style doesn't match. :)

Too many comic and cartoon channels treat these mediums like something which one must dedicate their entire lives to as opposed to just something fun that should only ever be picked apart and analyzed by people like us who find that fun. It shows a degree of self awareness and honesty that breeds far less cynicism and bitterness than most of the more sensationalist channels out there like to push on you. You're not on a crusade, and neither are we. You're just sharing your thoughts on something you deem fun to talk about, and that's really refreshing.
