Welcome to another episode of Scrap Mechanic Survival Mode! Today I experiment with boats for the first time! But one reason I have been avoiding boats is because they seem to require thrusters for propulsion. So in this video I want to see if there is an alternate way to propel boats that doesn't require fuel. Such as water cannons!

@ScrapMan, about mineing: i realised when you put the rotation of the drills on a level5 controller set to 360° loop, full speed and single bearing, then it breaks down the rocks realy fast. even if the rocks just lay ontop of the drills it works pretty good. not to mention the 0 fuel consumption. (i was useing a 3 side cage with 7 drill heads on the bottom end that can be widend and narrowed to the sides)

I would suggest lining your water cannons on a z-axis along the keel of your boat, in order to more evenly distribute the weight from bow to stern, rather than concentrate it in the aft section- that way you can at least somewhat avoid the difficult problem of adding more weight to get more buoyancy in one section of the boat (i.e- putting one/two water cannons under the bow and the same amount of cannons under the stern should allow you to more effectively utilize the buoyancy of all of your hull blocks to directly counter your weight). An interesting concept would be to test out pontoons/hydroplanes. Technically speaking (not sure if this is a mechanic in this game like it is in SimplePlanes) but the deeper in the water a buoyant object is, the more force acts upon it to push it to the surface. Since water resistance isn't something you have to worry about, you could afford to build pontoons that sink farther down into the water, thus enabling your boat to accumulate more buoyancy for less of the weight.

Suggestion on the button used to activate the crusher from a distance: add a couple buttons around it to give yourself a bigger target, that way you don't have to be as accurate while under the stress of dealing with a raid

You should put wheels on a bunch of pistons and push them to the bottom of the water and then try to drive. Or make a boat with super long wheels. Love your videos by the way!

@Scrapman , You should make a bursted thruster with maybe 5 water cannons. Now you had trouble with that buoyancy part. Well we've seen your progression in between episodes and such. You can do a lot. So if you grind you can make a ton of bubble blocks for the base. Make it as even as you can.then spread out those water cannons under the boat. have one in the bottom middle and four "cannon" steering on each corner. Then have a thruster to help turn and move turn on for maybe about 5 seconds every 5 or 10 seconds. This may not work but I think it's worth a shot.

Hammer powered rafts are a pretty good intermediate boat style, all you need is a bunch of thirst-refilling food and a fairly buoyant platform. I made a raft that was just a 16x16 platform with a couple block high wall around the edge, worked pretty well. Great job on the videos!

nope, the water in scrap mechanic is super buggy, you can recreate the same glitch by simply swimming under water while holding a bucket and left clicking as fast as you can.

A walker with multiple pistons for stepped height extension, feet with width extension for balance to ensure crossing any terrain (maybe like a fork). Ultimately I'd make it my portable base often parked next to my farm in the water which is able to walk across the map without having to rebuild. All without spending fuel right? Even go the extra length to make a mini that walks onto the warehouse! I've really been wanting to achieve this myself but unfortunately heavy rains made multiple foundation cracks well noticed along with much more (might start posting some content myself) Thanks for the content, till next time stay happy and healthy

In the Scrap Mechanic Trailer, one of the hay bot traps involved propellers. I suggest using propellers instead of water cannons. If you remember from your multiplayer series, one of your creations used propellers Scrapman. Plus, real life boat use propellers to drive thru the water. I don't know if the devs added propellers to the survival mode yet or not but that might be a better alternative

Reverse a vacuum pump on the water crate so one feeds in and one feeds out, the one feeding out facing horizontally and use that as a form of propulsion rather than that water cannons.

Hey ScrapMan, if you can't run with your gun out, aim down the sight for a moment. You should then be able to sprint again with the gun equipped. I came across this bug myself and was able to replicate it consistently. It looks as though the game doesn't realize you stopped aiming down the sight if you scroll off your gun while aiming.

That's unfortunate. I guess the only gas free water transport will be the piston ferry where pistons push a platform across the water to a predetermined destination. Though at that point having a fixed walkway or swimming is a better choice material-wise.

Suggestion: you can use the farm guys in the cages( the ones you trade for the guns) because they won't sink at all. They are attachable to blocks and they float as an empty plastic bottle on the sea. Smash the like button so he can see this

i made a little shack with automatic alarms to put my wocs in. they cant escape as easy and they are better protected. the alarms go off if there is any attacking farmbots. also, in case of emergency it has and elevator to bring the wocs off of the ground if something breaches the wall.

Scrapman you need to weld caged farmers to your raft, they are insanely buoyant, able to easily hold numerous pumps. You might actually be able to use to propel your raft with water cannons

Water physics summary (as far as I know). The buoyant force is fine, proportional to submerged volume. The resistance, however... it is proportional to speed, volume, mass and it is 10 times smaller when you move horizontally. Irl it is proportional to linear size of the object and the shape of the submerged object, I don't know why the devs did this.
