I tried it with an ounce. It makes the buds look washed out, almost grey. Makes it taste almost woody but in a stem kinda way, not a gg4 way. They shrink more than they otherwise would once dried and the bag appeal looks awful. The terps are all gone and the high isnt the same.

Damn this makes me feel so old and im only in my early 30s. My buddys dad since I can remember has always grown and he talked about this when I was at least 13-14. He totally is against it and one of his buddys ruined a lot of his harvest "Water curing". So thats always been a no for me just because if the OG's were telling me not to im going to listen.

you can always make more, just start with a bit to test smoke.. testing it on different types, is probetly more inportent. with a old school outdoor you might find this method more usefull then with a high end indoor bud it also depends on your taste preferences, some people like the taste of chlorofyl.. and they get buds with dark green or purple color for example

I've done this a few times over the years and got 3 beneficial take aways from it. The smoke is WAY smoother, the cure time is shorter, and the edibles I've made were really good. Downsides are less weight, bag appeal, and definitely a loss in terps/flavor. I've never noticed a loss in potency. Try it with a small amount and compare for scientific purposes 😊

Thanks @MrGrowit your video short on the topic was more balanced and less synical than other youtubers. Remaining impartial is an important step when analysing something that is different to what we're used to. I had to water cure for a couple of years when I lived in a condo in a highrise tower. I had no space for a separate drying area and drying in my grow space meant postponing my next grow. More importantly, preventing any odors from escaping was absolutely mandatory. Water curing solved both of these problems. Water cured buds lose a lot of their smell, yes. Water cured buds shrink and lose weight, yes. Water cured buds lose color and bag appeal, yes. But if you lived in prohibition-land and had the option of this or nothing at all, what would you choose? In my experience water curing did not provide a superior end product, but it did solve problems that would have otherwise prevented me from producing my own medicine. I now live somewhere else and I air dry and cure ONLY. I am however grateful for my experience, even if it was forced, as now I have a skill and knowledge that I previously did not.

If I grew outdoors and had a lot of fine particles in the air blowing around, potentially collecting over time, maybe. I grow the most pungent flower I can, I like it to be loud. I also have a feeling you’d be losing the profile that cane with the flower and gaining whatever profile the water imparts on it.

Lets talk more about budwashing before we go into full water curing, i've done budwashing with my outdoor plants, and I also want to add, that the terpy-est and most potent buds i've ever grown were from an outdoor autoflower plant that I did budwash. This water curing thing sounds a little crazy though!

In hight humidity areas water curing allows the buds to dry full! It sounds odd but a 2-3day water cure then, hang the material and it will dry more even then if just hanged! Also end product, I have found a 2-3 day water cure once dried has nice buds compared. This is my opinion but in my experience of water cured vs hang dried in the end, the same terpenes are volatile so do you let them wash off or dry off, its the same!

I have put some dried but not cured popcorn buds and trim from a grow harvested 10 months ago into a freezer (-16C) just to keep it for worse time or consumables. Recently I got back to that bag out of curiosity and let me tell you... The minor buds I discarded before now got that smooth cured smoke and the taste/aroma... just crazy. Its dry, smokes well and uniform, but its completely different experience. It smokes like dry, cured weed, but has the flavor, taste and aroma of fresh, ripening bud. It literally went to 1st place quality wise for me. Wonder if its the freezer or the 10 months time... And yea, I had normal, dried/cured, same plant, same aged stock to compare with. Maybe try that, make a video with your opinion on that? 10months tho...

That method of jars and days on end will give you nightmares. 10 minutes held under in a bucket however will do no damage at all as long as you get that all back to dry by vigourously shaking the drips out and getting a cold fan on , and then rack it out . Vegetables of all kinds often benefit from a quick soak in l'eau du vie depending on whats sensible before prep before prep for consumption. Adding some salt apparently draws out a lot of the chemical contaminants in modern crops because the water/salt intrracts with plant at cellular level. If youre throwing out chorophyll and contaminants while cooling and hydrating your crop with the water your throwing out its only good. If your leaching your terps as in by days later itll lose a lot of everything . Try 10 minutes , and do not even sip that leachwater unless you want to try out narcossis or similar for the next 12 hours. In practise its going to immediately de angrify a cut stalk or shucked green by cooling the reactions to the fact you just attacked it . Its going to start the process of water and sugars leaving in a continous natural manner instead of it wishing for drink as it dies . Youre looking preservation not petrification especially of crops brought to full fruition as in once the stamens of the true flower are present. It seems to be that people miss spraying the molass and seaweeds and teas on directly too fearing water for mould but its only latent damp being allowed thats the issue : cold leds , and you cant spray under strong light . Other than proper freeze drying its a way of getting a step on again on it .

I knew guys who did it in 5 gallons ro mixed with one 12 oz bottle of Peroxide. They would only soak for no more than 5 minutes. Then rinse again in ro. They said it cleaned the buds of all Contaminance. And that's the way they wanted their medicine

I bud wash and as for me the bud taste a lot better but still very time consuming I say it's a good way to clean buds

Well Chris I sure would be interested to hear how your experiment goes if you try it . Seems like a pretty busy process with weighting down buds and changing water that often.. interesting

I grow mine indoors, all organic, distilled water at base of plant. Nothing ever sprayed on plants. I want every micro-gram of my terps. Dumbass idea to rinse them away.

This channel gives solid advice 99.999% of the time. This is that 0.0001% where you want to avoid this nonsense. The overhype on such a garbage method of Curing is hilarious. Do yourself a favor and have a couple harvests where you cure old school and then get yourself a Cannatrol and relax. Cannatrol has been such a solid purchase and once you get used to it you can tweak/customize it for whatever you're heart desires.

I don't smoke, so have always water cured my bud (tap water through a filter jug) to go into edibles and as I want the effect, but not the taste, it suits me ? I do agree that the bud looks a bit shit, but as it's going in the slo cooker with coconut oil it hardly matters ?

Not a chance. However ....I may have grown in a swamp many years ago and it rained damn near everyday. 100% humidity. Lost a little to bud rot and mold...but also had the best smoke around when it went well. To much moisture has never been good to me ! So...now after 35+ years of growing as far as "water curing" goes...not a chance !

You did a video like 2 or 3 years ago about this topic, I left a comment there which covers results etc. It's worth it for select bud types, research that bit and enjoy a new experience. Even if only once. My regret was I didn't water cure the whole plant only 1oz such a sad thing the water cured was way better all around.

I've heard Kyle Kushman talk about it but I don't remember the details. It sounds risky and messy. If someone wants to try it, hey, it's their bud. I wouldn't try it.
