Hi there. Would it be better to use these filters vs. bottled, distilled water? I have super hard water at home and not sure if these filters will do a good job. Also will be buying a Profitec double builder machine from you. Should I go with BWT or Nivea? Help?

Hi HS, thanks for the Q. You want some minerals in your water - so do not use pure distilled or RO. It's bad for flavor and can corrode metal with long-term use. If your machine has a fill level probe in boiler or water reservoir using electrical conductivity (like some Rocket Espresso machines) to sense levels pure distilled or RO water does not conduct so they will not work. Some bottled waters may be okay but depending on brand/type mineral levels are all over the place. For instance don't use bottled mineral water. As name suggests those are very high in minerals! These filters can treat fairly hard water up to a general hardness of 20 degrees which = about 350ppm in total dissolved solids. If your water is crazy hard or has edge case issues like high sulfates, gypsum then you may be better off starting with bottled distilled water and remineralizing prior to use.
