Now....we run products that are larger than most, but one issue we have is turbulent flow through a "flood channel" type cooling system. If the water flows too fast it actually degrades it's ability to remove heat from the tool. We were able to experiment with digital flow meters and fittings to choke down on the return side of the circuit and improve cooling. Love the vids...thx

I work for a injection molding plant and we have 2 molds that are 8 cavity sump pump floats and they both have 128 water line connections! I would absolutely love to see my company put those watering systems on the tools themselves! Those float molds are the only 2 tools that I absolutely hate pulling or setting lol

Handy tip... if your finding that the female dme water fittings are swivelling during opening/closing or on sliding cores and using up seals then switch to Staubli fittings 👌👌

Evening Dave! I recently, in the last month or so found your channel. Great content by the way, but what are the odds that no more than 3 weeks after finding you I find myself looking over your resume to prep for an interview/walk around of my home facility. This is Nick from Crestview. I was the one that got interrupted during the walk around for a water leak on the tool water of one of the Sumi CL7000. Hey Dave, I'm doing blow molding and have a tool which I have turned the water almost all the way down on and yet I'm still getting condensation inside the mold causing an unwanted texture on the part. It's hot and humid here in VA and I'm battling condensation on all of our tools (injection tools as well) causing rust issues and a giant mess on the floor. Do you have any recommendation on how to cut down on condensation in molding?

The condensation problem is an issue that I have had for years & there is no way to prevent it other than Climent control on the plant. I have tried several things for insulator boards and insulators for all the water lines. Cutting the water back or chocking it in half will make the molds run hotter. This did help me on some jobs, but you have to watch for the parts getting too hot and warping. There is NO right answer on this issue it is something a lot of companies fight with. I have a question. We are starting to get a lot of molds that vapor lock whenever we turn the tcu on. Some of our molds have a water manifold and can supply up to 8 or 10 cooling channels. If there are more than what the manifold has we will jump whatever is left trying to make sure its even flow. Our system pressure going to the tcu is 40psi and the tcu will provide 80psi. Our main line from the tcu to mold manifold is 1" and manifold to cooling channels are 3/8 id or 1/2 id. Some of our molds that come in will have clear lines so that is how we first started noticing air in the lines whenever the tcu's were on. You can slowly pop the fitting off and relieve the pressure which would help water to begin flowing. What are we doing wrong? Im noticing this on our larger molds that go in our 500 ton press up to 1500 ton press). We were thinking maybe our tcu's are to small for the larger size molds. They are 3hp. We use those from our 40 ton presses all the way up to our 1500 tons. We also use 1 tcu per side. Thanks

How can you easy take out rust from inside the mold that is clogging up a water line without disassemble a mold?

Also be sure to always blow water lines out after pulling the mold from the machine to prevent corrosion build up.
