Water Heater Repair - Gas Valve and Thermocouple

Join me as I tackle an issue with my water heater!:)
Yes, this is a departure from my typical videos on photography, however it does relate to everyday/RealWorld challenges. My water heater stopped working as the pilot light failed to remain lit. Since my water heater was relatively new, I contacted the manufacturer and rolled my sleeves up to troubleshoot and ultimately repair the unit.
Hopefully, my experience will help someone in a similar situation saving hundreds if not thousands of dollars. The repairs are very doable by anyone semi-capable of turning a wrench:).

I suggest checking with your manufacturer first (perhaps they have a recall similar to my situation). If no recall from the manufacturer, find a replacement using the links above.

Why didn't you put dope on the gas connection to the flame? That shiny pipe? Is there a rubber seal inside or something?

Thanks for the post/question!:) Yes, there is an internal joint/seal on the connector which did not require dope.
