I'd suggest you put a plate of stainless steel flat to angled above it screwed onto the top of the concrete to protect the gate from debris coming through the debris cage. Thar way it'll just slide over the plate down to the overflow pipe. By the way, the grass is looking good. Next spring when the Bermuda grass comes up it's going to look beautiful around the pond.

I really enjoyed the drone shots of the lake. It is coming up and looks so nice. Thanks for sharing, Brian. My totally plain and uninteresting suggestions for the coves are: The first cove Chris worked on by the road & your neighbors would be the Road Cove, next one Cabin Cove, and the 3rd Home Cove since it's by your home. You are in Google maps already.
@BrushCommando7 күн бұрын
Hey Vickie! Glad you enjoyed the drone footage. Cabin Cove and Mallard Cove are the most common suggestions so far. The lake name is what I was referring to, you can add it to a body of water on their imagery. Just something neat to do.

Brian, I’d wait till late spring to write that tree off. I had a similar experience and thought the tree was gone, but it stayed dormant through the fall and winter, then came back super strong 🤷♂️ sometimes they just go into shock for a while. It is late in the year.

Now that looks good! Here in sweden we tie together a couple of old christmas trees to each other and dump them in lakes and ponds after christmas, that tangle of branches works the same way as you fish hotels with the extra benefit of also being great food for insects and releasing nutrients in the water! Bass and small fry of anny sorts love those tangles and really increase the amount of spawning in the waters! But I do not know if it will work for you over there... 😉

Not sure on the valve. Outside it could get hit but inside it could get washed off if you get a heavy flow from a storm. Maybe make a piece to go from the overflow out over the valve so that water would bypass around it? Duck tubes = chain link fence rolled into tubes, heavy straw between the inner and outer fence. Line with straw. Boat drain, use flouro paracord to tie through the toggle and then up to the motor. When you pull the drain you wrap the line around the redder stalk so you know where it is, and if it's installed.

pull out that fence by the road use the spoil heaps to build a berm in it's place, plant it with something thorny. If bank tall enough and vegetation prickly enough it should keep out intruders, as well as road noise. probably will need to put drains through the bank at the low spots. Here is a thought how about naming the ponds areas after famous fishing American authors just for a vague idea Poes pool for the duck pond Hemingway flats for the area the trees were knocked down in Steinbeck's Staithe for the creek by the cottage Melvilles moat for the creek that runs to the road. Then of course there is Twain possibly my favorite. then writers like King maybe Kings landing anyway you get the idea. Actually Poe was English went to school in Stoke Newington Now in north london his school had [still there] the creepiest church you will ever see right next door might well have been the inspiration for his horror stories. Strangely the grave stone of Daniel Defoe buried in Southampton now rests in the lobby of the building that replaced the old school I wonder what strange force brought these two famous men into such close company. Pond now filling nicely this rain should help top up the ground water as well as the pond.
