Hi everyone! It's been a while since I've done an oil painting. In fact, I've always enjoyed working with oil paints, but the smell has always been an issue for me. When I discovered Holbein Duo Aqua Oils, water soluble oil paints, I couldn't resist trying it out. So, I made an impulse purchase and decided to test it. It's not only odorless but also dries quickly, making it perfect for practice. This impulse buy was a total success! Enjoy today's video!❤ Bonjour à tous !

Bonjour from France Danh-A ! It's a great pleasure to support you on this channel. I want for long to give a try to oil painting with water soluble. Your demo with holbein is attractive and the result beautiful. But I have a question as I like glazing more than to paint alla prima... What solvent do you use to glaze ? Do you use the Duo Aqua mediums as for exemple linseed oil or standoil ? I ask because it is important to notice that the main advantage of painting with water soluble oils is to wash the tools with water. But it is not recommended to use water as a solvent even if it is for painting the first layer. They don't have to be used as if it was acrylic painting. I watched many videos about water soluble but I expect I could see some day one tutorial with special mediums for water soluble oils. I encourage you to go on with this kind of paints 😉

Thank you always for your endless support, Jasmine✨ I also had many questions about water-soluble oil paints before using them, but some of them were resolved after I tried them myself. However, I have only used Holbein's water-soluble duo oil paints, so I'm not sure about other brands. Based on the information I gathered from the official Holbein website, ”Water-soluble duo is a kind of mixed tempera paint. It's both an oil paint and a water-based paint, so you can dilute it with water instead of volatile solvents like petrol and clean your brushes with water.”That's why I believe they named it "Duo", I think. It offers the flexibility of both traditional oil painting techniques, allowing you to use water or their specific thinners (duo linseed oil/ duo Quick Drying Liquid) based on your personal preference.
