Water Rites Kickstarter Launch Stream

Water Rites is my next big project! I will be one of the Lead Actors and a Producer for this new Indie Horror Film! As this is an Indie project we are looking for backers to help us make this film!
Water Rites is in the vein of classic folk horror films... Think Wicker Man meets Midsommar with just a touch of Get Out. A young couple takes a break from their work-a-day lives by spending the summer at a secluded lake-front community. After unwittingly uncovering the locals’ secrets, the couple’s idyllic retreat quickly turns into something neither of them will return from.
Our story takes place and will be filmed in Lake Arrowhead, a small resort community in the San Bernadino mountains just an hour & 1/2 outside of Los Angeles. Though names have been changed and creative liberties taken, much of this story is based in fact.
Sometimes Truth is Stranger Than Fiction...
Established in the early 1900s by logging companies flocking to the area for the richness of timber and other natural resources, Lake Arrowhead soon grew into a resort community and weekend getaway for people making the drive up from Los Angeles. It also became a popular hideaway for mafia-types of the day.
Due to government interference and code infractions in the 1970s Lake Arrowhead was at risk of losing their life blood, the water. Fearing the loss of their livelihood, the residents raised the funds needed to save the lake. Since then, those unknown residents have been the owners and guardians of the water. The lake has been in their private possession for the last 50+ years. Without exclusive rights and credentials, outsiders have no access to the lake. The town, the lake, and the history behind it were the inspiration for this film.
Water Rites is the 2nd feature film for Dean Jacobs as Executive Producer, Writer, and Director.
