Could you see that air at 3:15 release. Once it could breathe again and swam away.

It was only out of the water for seconds to get the fly out but I see what you mean.

Yes warm water makes it harder for them to recover from the stress (lactic and amino acid build up). But even in cold water you can kill fish with long stressful fights. Rainbow and brook trout are more susceptible, than say a brown trout or a bass. When you are doing catch and release fishing it's important to be aware of the stress you are putting the fish through.
