I'd love to see a video on the Kmart paint! How fun! It would be interesting to see is a kids grade back then is as good as student grade today. I used to love prang products but they seem to be not as good as there were in the 1990s when i taught kids. This pandemic has rekindled my hoarding tendencies (for art supplies) because I've seen so many products go out of stock or the prices increase so I've held onto a lot of maybe products. Also I like to sleuth out what products are made by the same manufacturer when I review so I can warn of identical products under different names. That's my excuse 😆 I also use my excess in classes I teach but I can totally get clearing stuff out. (Not my watercolors tho, they spark joy! 😄)

I was lucky when I went to declutter some art supplies to be taking a night class from a teacher who also taught in the local high school. It was a joy to pass on quality art supplies to high school art students. Sharing this as an option for a declutter recepipitant. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences with the art supplies.

Hi Patricia! Yes it’s always good to declutter every now and then. I say there’s no shame in reselling some of the ones that are gently used, but if you have an artsy niece, I’m sure she’ll love and make good use out of the ones you part with.

I have the Japanese I have not tried them out yet couple of them came drunk and cracked in the container before I even used them and it's so upsetting I wouldn't have paint for a weekend now I might have sent back

I took my 4 primas and combined them into 1 tin! I put classics, tropicals, pastel, and vintage into a large 48 tin. Makes me more likely to use them if they're all combined together~ ✨

Ive been considering buying the sennilier. Artza has been raising prices recently, which I felt like they were worth before but the price increase is make me annoyed with them.

This was great to watch for your reasons and such. I hear you on going from student grade to higher paints and it's hard to go back. I never tried Arteza but that's because I snagged Paul Ruben on prime day and was in love 🥰. I think Lindsay said Artsy is a PR dupe but can't remember. Great video!

I think brands like Schpirerr Farben and Arteza are geared more for the crafter or possibly colorist rather than towards professional artists like yourself. I personally don't have either of those. I am surprised a lot of people do like the Paul Reubens shimmery paints. I am not a fan of them. I find that they don't rewet very well and the pans require more scrubbing to get the pigment out and on to the brush. I think Finetec/Coliro is much better option although it is more expensive. I must admit that you have confirmed many of my suspicions regarding some of these products; and I am not surprised you are parting ways with them. Thanks for sharing.

I prefer Paul Rubens over JD, although JD have some fun watercolors to play with.

I think the Kmart video would be fun :) I have several palettes and I feel guilty for not using them all regularly, so I cycle them out. I am currently using my Schmincke. I have given some sets away one of which was Davenport set, her colors are fun too like prima. I do not miss having them and have many handmade sets also that I really enjoy. Funny how these paint sets can be so appealing. But I am glad that I now know I just don't need all kinds of sets laying around.

I have both the Paul Rubens and the Artsy glitter water colors and they are identical! I have the complexion set of the Premier paints and love them.

I don’t have any ‘real’ watercolours, just watercolour pencils and markers. But I love watching people who have ‘real’ ones, so thanks for sharing.. if I do buy real ones at somestage, I trust your judgement on which ones to avoid, so thank you. Hope you are doing well with your recovery ❤️‍🩹

I want to declutter my Arteza watercolor pencils, Sargent Art watercolor crayons, and my Mr. Pen colored pencils (First set as a new beginner colorist). I try to color skies in coloring books with watercolors, but what I have comes out too chalky.

Something in the medium price range that will fit my budget and quality standards lol. Any suggestions are appreciated 😊. I'm not a professional, just someone who enjoys coloring.

LOL I have all of those accept the Kmart one. I agree about the Arteza metallics they could be SO much better. I have SO many water color sets in general though, and I am not sure I am ready to declutter them at all yet. I would like to replace my metallic artezas with Paul Rubens but I have to wait until my employment situation changes. Something I have been addicted to even though I have Windsor newton and Kor artist’s quality watercolors that are so nice and professional, are those bladed pocket knife like watercolor sets you can find on amazon. I have a few of them that have some pretty high quality paint and they aren’t chalky or anything and they just travel so well. I love them for doing studies out and about in Los Angeles and then coming home and making more professional pieces from my studies.

I think the Kmart paints would make a fun video! As for the paints you are not sure of challenge yourself use them again. Using them again with remind you why you love them(or not love them).

You are stronger than I ever will be lol. I have moved three times in the last three years. Despite barely making art anymore I didn't have the heart to get rid of any art supplies. Every time I move I carefully box them up and then put them back where they belong. It just makes me happy to know that they're there if I ever feel like using them again. Am I a hoarder? 😂

They’re so lovely to just keep around, you know? I get it! However, I also think…out with the old, in with the new (you never know what you’ll end up wanting in the future and there are always new art supplies coming out!) I wouldn’t say you’re a hoarder unless you have about 100 boxes full of supplies! 🤣

Himi watercolor (pink shell) is chalky but they are also silky. Go figure. I’m a sucker for packaging. Davenport gets me most of the time.

Haha I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s felt guilty about their prima marketing palettes! You’re probably thinking of the Paul Rubens neon watercolors. They’re the ones I used during the black light painting livestream.

Jane, I'm not very picky anything would be fine if possible. I use alot of the Arteza products and have issues with their pencils. (They have sent me 2 more sets and didn't ask for the others be returned). I primarily do dog portraits and want to explore other things.

With my prima’s I bough a giant pallet they all fit in with some 2 way glue and organized the colors and not its my favorite set.

Hi! Thank you and I’m doing better with each day. I would say if you don’t want to invest a lot of money and are a beginner, the Artsy 24 watercolor set is great, or the White Nights watercolor. I would recommend watching videos on color mixing if you get a smaller set; that way you’ll have a leg up on getting the most out of your watercolor set. I hope that helps!

Jane i would love to have a new motzart set i used mine all up at least the metallic and the ocean and landscape colors i put some tube paints in the pans and somehow the tube of cheep watercolors molded so I just tossed that one this week to get rid of the mold I love the metallic of all kinds i have the artsy set I was playing with when I watched this vidio I like to paint the color under and dry then top with metallic colors i paint daily to keep my mind off pain till I must take my dog out to empty his tanks hes on u tube as the pillow hog dog hes a rescue a pit baby thats scared of everything especially water
